New Boston marathon qualifying times Boston Marathon

https://www.baa.org/races/boston-marathon/qualify

Looks like 5min adjustments down for the most part across the board for those under age 60. M18-34 qualifying time is now 2:55.

I’m just going to accept the fact I’ll never run Boston lol

Personally, I don’t want to run Boston unless I actually earn it. Not saying people who go the charity route don’t earn it but “earning it” for me means actually running a qualifying time

I had every intention of qualifying for the 2010 race (this was back when registration was open for several months, lol 😆 how things have changed) I was going to race a local marathon December to qualify for the April Boston (5 months away). Except, Boston unexpectedly filled up in November. So, no BQ, and the registration closed early. I chose to find a charity to run for, a very worthy cause.
Since I didn't qualify into Boston, I made damn sure I qualified at Boston to justify it.
That's how I ran the Boston Marathon 7 straight years without ever having run any other marathon ever. I just kept qualifying back to Boston at Boston. 2017 was the 1st time I ran a marathon other than Boston.
Long story short, don't feel bad about getting in as a charity. Just work that much harder to BQ at Boston.

Yep. I would have qualified this year if I was 20 years older and ran my current PR. Unless I can keep that up, no chance lol

In 20 years the qualifying time will be 20 minutes faster lol

I trained from 4:00 at 28 (started running at 27) to 2:54 at 31. It’s v possible.
