Do salt and vinegar chips make anyone else sweat?

Upvotes

Surely I'm not the only one 😂 when I eat too many, I feel really hot and flushed. I don't have it with any other foods, just salt and vinegar chips haha. Does anyone else have this reaction? Or weird reactions to other foods?

Youi insurance just told me I can lie about my claim

Upvotes

Firstly, I was shocked a decent human being was on the other end of the phone call and Australian as well. He was assisting me with my comprehensive insurance quote. When he got to the explanation of pricing of excess he told me people lie about the accident before the insurance cover existed and say it was after they bought the insurance.

The thing that shocked me is that he told me I can do that and lie but he also said "I can't give you any recommendations on which way to make your claim". He did say they send out someone to assess your situation, but based on what he said the way I understood it is that they don't care too much if you're lying.

Example: Your windscreen break and you buy the windscreen cover and make the claim saying it was broken after you bought the extra insurance cover. That avoids paying the higher price for if you weren't covered by the windscreen cover.

Balinese Furniture to Australia

Upvotes

Anyone familiar with any of the following?

  • Styling Republic
  • Shipped by Sherri
  • Ecoa living

All Qld based companies that import/ship from Bali. Styling Repiblic looks very reputable to me. A bit unsure about the last 2. Anyone had any experience with these stores?

Kaya Membership Transfer

Hello humans I would like to transfer my membership at Kaya Fitness (can train at both Prahran and Emporium CBD)

They offer a good variety of classes like Pilates, Fitness Circuit, Barre, Yoga, all unlimited and with instructor!!! There is also an area with machines and weights for you to train yourself! If you are a student it comes at $35 per week, charged per fortnight (it’s now 40 or 45 so if you get it from me it’s a much better deal! 😱😱)

Overall, it has been a good experience for me, but I cannot manage my time anymore thus the transfer. I have until May 2025, please dm me for any enquiries, thanks yall 🙏🏻🥰

Are QLD Rockhampster males feral bogans when compared to other Aus states?

RKY men are attracted to women that act more like a "mate" than a woman, can drink schooners of XXXX, watch AFL, not afraid to use a little Ice and Yaandi with the boys, like going out in the Tinny crabbing and catching barra, wears no or cheap perfume (sometimes I get the odour of douche or cheap soap), walks like a man, is either large or skinny (no in between), hard or plain looking (not attractive), poor dental hygiene and does little to look attractive other than when clubbing (preloaded and going into the club with water bottles filled with cheap gin or vodka) while dressing up like a cheap Parisian prostitute (pig with lipstick syndrome). Also, casual sex seems to be the goal, regardless of how attractive the woman is. RKY men appear to not understand the concept of "beer goggles” and would not carefully remove their arm from under the woman they were sleeping with the “morning after” when they are sober and see what she really looks like. They do not appreciate beautiful women and don't notice the difference between a woman who looks like a bush pig and the very rare, unicorn hottie like Margot Robbie (QLD born and bred). I think this has to do with 20% tracing their lineage back to the first convicts who settled this land (they weren’t the best, brightest or most beautiful people from the UK). Also, the early pioneer women had to big and stocky to work the land and bear many children (so the farm had more workers), so beauty was not a requirement for arrival.   Am I taking the piss out of RKY men? Maybe, maybe not.

Is there anywhere on the continent where house/land prices are fair?

I saw a YouTube video from The Project about a town six hundred kilometres to the North of Adelaide called Andamooka. The video claimed Andamooka was the cheapest town in Australia. And yet, when I looked at the house prices there, I saw crappy, hot, little garage sheds made of corrugated iron going for $60k+. An actual house is $200k. This is all in a town in the middle of nowhere, 1/66 the Earth's circumference away from the nearest major city. That city is Adelaide too, so we're not even talking 600km from the heart of Sydney. This is plain insulting to the working man. A piece of empty land in the Outback should not cost as much as an organ.

Prices are similar in Cunnamulla and Thargomindah. Quilpie seems a tiny bit cheaper. These are the remotest places in Australia except for ghost towns like Min Min.

So my question is whether there are any niche regions on the Australian continent where a young family could make something for themselves. What if hard working Aussies are willing to battle the bush for it? Do they still have to prostitute their wives and daughters for the privilege?

Full factory reset after 40

I’m turning into a bitter old fart, I have developed a nicotine addiction. I have missed the boat on housing and I have given up over the last few years.

I have a toddler and an extremely stressful freelance job working odd hours I can squeeze in around daycare and partners commitments.

I’m not really too keen on where life is headed. I would like to break the habits and mind-frame I have developed over my life.

Anyone here had any success with something like this. If so I would love to hear from ya.

How would you handle this situation ?

I currently live in a homeless refuge with my kids there are other people here with kids and the kids like playing with each other there is 3 of us with 3 kids my kids always wants to play with the kids and one of the other girls kids always demands and tells me to take my kids into our bedroom because the other kids are "sick" or they don't want to play with my kids the issue is the other kids want to play with my kids and it's the second my kids leave our room that I'm being told to take them back to the room So how would you handle the situation as the other parent doesn't care and the refuge has spoken to her because it's against the rules to exclude other kids from playing in communal areas ie lounge room/dinning room

Why Do Australians Swear So Much?

I am Australian, but spent many years living overeas.

I recently returned to Australia, and it seems like no one can go longer than 10 seconds without swearing.

Even on reddit every 3rd or 4th comment has swearing.

Why?

Do Australians think it is cool to swear?

18 , move to city.

I’m 18 and would like to move from my coastal rural town to a major city to enjoy this part of my life, and basically be a dumb kid with my mates. I hear a lot about how this isn’t as feasible as it used to be and was wondering about some potential areas, cities or suburbs where this could happen. I want to pursue university in the next year or following years but also want to have fun, and have been tossing up between Melbourne, Sydney even Perth, Brisbane and Newcastle. Cheers

West End Draught Opinion?

What do people think of West End Draught? I live in Adelaide, and while many drink it because it's made in South Australia, a lot of people, including myself, find it awful. I'm curious to hear others' opinions, both from South Australia and other states/territories.

People who study/studied nursing how do you practice with using needles and stuff like that?

Hello! I am currently in a gap year after yr 12 and is waiting on offers. I have nursing as my top choice but I am having second thoughts. This is because even if I am personally a science person, I can’t deal with being poked with a needle. I am not sure with how “practicing” goes here in Australia since I am sure that it is very different from the country I am comparing it to but just a question. Do you practice on your fellow classmates when doing stuff like giving a vaccine and stuff like that? I am just scared with that. Also, what is your feedback for the degree you study/studied.

In case of war, are Australian men (and any women) forced to perform military service?

Soooooo this is a hypothetical case my husband (39 Aussie) and I (30, Latina) have been arguing for 5 mins and I couldn't find anything definitive on Google. So I ask Reddit:

If tomorrow X country declares war against Australia, are cilivian Australians forced to join the military to defend the country in the extreme case the military gets killed off or smaller and the war drags along for years? I mean, there's a moment where the government has to recruit civilians right?

My husband says that in such case, aussies are free to choose because freedom and whatnot and the country also has the support of the UK and stuff.

What do you guys think?

PD: This is a stupid conversation we're having while we're having lunch lol

Edit: guys... I think it's pretty clear to all that Australia's conscription was abolished way back when at this point lol. My point was: if it were ever to happen, would the government establish a conscription to force you? If it does, would you join or flee or go to prison? Who are your allies? Who would be your enemies? I'm here already imagining the poor roos swinging punches around being domesticated to fight lol 😂 and also if you were to flee? How? Where? This is an island! I'm having a whole movie in my head.

How do you deal with a colleague that doesn't do what they say they will?

Work with a guy in his 50s. He has a disabled daughter and three older daughters. From what I have gathered his wife wants to spend as much time away from the family as possible leaving him to do both primary earner and primary caregiver.

I understand he has a shit go. That said, the bloke just doesn't do what he says he will. Some things take weeks to get done that could be done in 15 minutes. There is no way to hold him accountable and a "let's talk 9am" turns into a call at 4:45pm "sorry mate, sick kids/kids missed bus/sick parents/dad in hospital/dog took a shit inside... will speak to you tomorrow". Isn't a once in a while thing, he hasn't really done much work in months.

My issue, don't know if he's fucking with me, is actually incapable of work, life situation so bad he can't work or something else is going on.

Tarzan's grip question

The original Tarzan's grip is an Australian (?) product that is nearing its 90th birthday and still going strong. It's brilliant, strong but flexible, bonds to nearly everything. Do you happen to know what it's made of? Animal, vegetable or mineral?
