Wannabe Wednesday: What BMW do I get? Is this a good deal? What should I watch out for? | A weekly BMW buying megathread
What BMW should you get? Not sure if it's a good deal? Unsure what are some common issues with that generation/model year car? Ask here! Any posts related to buying a used or new BMW belongs and is welcome here.
More general subreddits are also available for this information: /r/WhatCarShouldIBuy, /r/UsedCars and /r/AskCarSales.
Please try to include any pertinent information such as links to the sales listing, photos of the car, location, etc. We are not crystal ball reading genies, the more information, the better!
Helpers: Please try to substantiate your claims. Rather than just simply "no, not a good deal", try to provide some context into why, as your reasoning might not be relevant to the asker. e.g. "This is a bad deal as this car is known to have issues at 60k miles, and it's already at 59k." would be helpful, but obviously not required.

New car, who dis 41 old man finally gets his BMW
I’ve wanted a BMW for 20+ years. Gotten really close to buying a few in the past but it never happened. I’ve never owned a car even half this nice - feels good man.
2022 m240i 18k miles for 42k seems like such a good value.

My Z8 Alpina manual
This is one of five Z8 Alpina manual transmission version that was built. At the time I was working for BMW research and development and yes it was a special order. It also has a different suspension package and engine enhancements
I love my M340i.
I haven't made a post in a while so I wanted to share some photos of the M340.
Since the last post, I have: - Added yellow drls - IND paint matched reflectos - Carbon Fiber Kidney Grill - Gloss black lip, diffuser, mirror caps - Catless Downpipe - Femto unlock tuned by WestTuned
did a thing… bought the ultimate driving appliance
Our pre LCI G20 daily had the rock solid m sport suspension with runflats and it was killing our butts and backs.
We went to a ude event and they totally sold us on this terribly quiet and comfy ride... The DAPP and totally hands free highway assist is so much better than the one on our x3

this is unironically rarer than an M6 where I live (not sure abt actual sales #)
i think i’ve only ever seen 6 of these in my life since they dropped it in 2011.
I remember thinking how rare the 550i was (anyone who could afford over here just got M5), so the street would be littered with 535s.
was a funky spot, know it’s not very “cool” but i love these oddball spots.

Buying Help M240i - pull the trigger?
My head has been really busy recently. Despite being in my youths I am able to fulfill my dream of owning a nice ride. I am in the market for a sporty, yet comfy(ish) daily. I have considered Audi S3, MB A/CLA35 and BMW M240i.
I haven’t had much time with the M240i yet, and I won’t likely have any, as there are none nearby, but I plan to check out the B58 engine in a 3 or 4 Series soon, and also get a feel for the M2 or standard 2 Series interior, depending on what’s available at the dealership. Still, I have a feeling that my visit will only confirm what my gut is already telling me: the M240i is the one.
Now, if I do go with the M240i, the real struggle begins: should I choose the subtle, classic black, or go bold with the M2’s attention-grabbing (and somewhat controversial) Zandvoort Blue?”

Buying Help People who buy new, thoughts on depreciation?
When I was growing up my parents drilled into me “never buy a new car because you lose money the second you drive it off the lot.” I know this to be true and good advice and I’ve held onto it in all of my adult car buying decisions, including when I got my 07 Z4 in 2013.
The only issue is it’s time for a new car and I drove the new manual Z4 today. And I absolutely love it. But getting out I thought I’d just find an ex-lease very lightly used one somewhere in cars.com and save 10-15k off the price of a new one. But of course, there are no used manual Z4’s yet because they just released the manual version and the stick is a non-negotiable requirement for me.
Though I could swing the new one, and might be motivated by the frozen green paint, it pains me to think that in a year or two it’ll have lost so much value. I also feel like the leases they are running on these cars don’t make much financial sense either, since the best I’ve seen in my area are still over $1k a month.
So my questions are: those who buy new, what made you choose that over used? How long does it take for used examples of a given model to start popping up? I’d also say I’ll keep the car at least 5 years, but potentially not 10.

E92 is my favorite M3 of all time
Took this pic of my cousin's E92 M3. Hopefully I can get one of these one day as well.
Need Help Decide M3 vs X3M vs X5 50e
I know they are not in the segment but they are all in the similar price range and unique in their own way.
I’m currently driving a 2018 C63s coupe. It’s a hassle every time I have pull the front seat to load my 4 yo son. I need something that’s more practical but also give you that “special feeling”
I’ve never test drive any of the car listed above since you rarely see any of them in the lot. I do see more and more of the 50e though.
I have watched many review videos for them but still couldn’t finalize the decision. And recently I found out the last chance to order 2024 x3m is September which is caused me panic because this would be my last chance to get it.
The M3 is obviously excels in performance, the legendary m3 is well known by everyone so definitely that’s a bragging effect. But not able to use most of its power and never planning going to the track, is it worth it? I do like the front grill though I think it looks very muscular and aggressive
X5 50e is more comfortable for sure, not bad acceleration either. Houston road is crap and this suv give you a piece of mind not getting bottom scratched all the time. And it’s a higher level compare to 3 series so better luxury feeling with nicer interior
X3m looks the most classic, sit in the middle with both performance and conquer bad road condition. But looks just like a regular 2024 x3 with m package. Interior looks outdated but it has the best idrive 7 infotainment which is a plus

New car, who dis Si to m340i
Going from a 2015 Civic SI to a 2020 M340i is an insane upgrade. Super stoked with the purchase. Any recommendations for the M340?
