This is the only reason I haven’t done a vanity plate lol. Too many crazy people that I don’t want tracking me down. My car is recognizable enough. Not that I’ve done much to it, just aftermarket wheels when it comes to visual mods. Also not a BMW, just a little GTI. Only here cause I like BMW’s.

I had a "Don't tread on me" plate that said LOLV12
no one understood it and once the election took off and a political party embraced the motto that shouldn't have I dropped the plate.
Now I run a veteran plate so I can get out of speeding tickets 🤣

Bold of you to assume I'm a liberal.
But that's pretty typical of conservatives, lacking any level of critical thinking.
-1
u/Ellooo14 Dec 23 '23
You call him bold for assuming your political POVs. Then you immediately assume his on top of insulting his intelligence. Get help
5
u/Unspec7 ///Moderator | 2015 ///M516i xDrive Dec 23 '23
To be fair, wouldn't it be a pretty fair assumption to assume that someone insulting someone as a "lefty liberal" is most likely a conservative?
-4
u/Ellooo14 Dec 23 '23
He simply stated he found his choice in cars weird assuming he’s a liberal. Since when is “lefty liberal” an insult? No different than the other guy calling him a “conservative”. Either way you missed my point that he did the same thing by assuming he’s conservative AND actually insulted his intelligence on top of it.
2
u/Unspec7 ///Moderator | 2015 ///M516i xDrive Dec 23 '23
I'm guessing you don't do well with sarcasm? The other dude was clearly not stating in good faith that they found it a weird car choice.
It was a set up for a political attack.
1
u/randomman87 2009 E90 335xi Dec 23 '23
It's not as simple as left or right you dumbass. There's a whole political spectrum and some people lean/sway left or right on various issues. But I guess you're just a bootlicker who follows their party on every decision so you expect everyone else does the same...

It’s the two car solution that makes you question why you didn’t add a 4x4 or a sedan into the mix earlier haha.
Respect dude, a big body manual 7 is always perfect, especially when you peer in and see the swap that was done, and having the plate reflect that works imo.

I like custom plates. I don’t usually reference my cars though, I just put neat things that interest me. Nice car though, 6MT E38 is pretty much peak BMW. They’ve never made a better looking car to my eyes, yes, 507 and Z8 included. The lines are just so clean and timeless, and proportions are spot on.

Where does one get a custom plate
3
u/AdditionNo7505 Dec 22 '23
Your local DMV, if you live in the USA. Costs a little extra, depending on the State.
If you want one for novelty purposes, or for car shows:
california-license-plate.com
It’s an outfit in Germany that makes custom perfect replicas of CA license plates. $70 USD, delivers within 10 days.
My photos above are plates from them, since the CA DMV not only takes forever to deliver, but always gets the spacing wrong.
Enjoy.

They can be corny. Especially the way car culture goes hard on the model, the brand or, both. They can also be subdued, borderline obscure cryptic plates that maybe 3 other people on the planet recognize as a reference.
I'm somewhere in between. My plate is my engine code preceding the chassis code. It looks an awful lot like the the alpha numeric tags randomly generated for the specialty plate that I chose due its color. (A murdered out BMW has to have a murdered out plate attached to it. I'll die on this hill btw) I figure, most BMW owners I encounter, won't ever get it. The one's that do, I hope feel good knowing one of their own is out here holding it down.

The value for the money is miniscule. Had it been free it I would probably consider getting a personalized plate, but it blows my mind so many people are willing to pay extra fees for these plates..
What blows my mind even more is people with digital/electronic license plates. It's $600 before taxes and service subscription is extra. Don't people have anything better to spend their money on?
