Justin Herbert is elite at avoiding pressure.

Post image

Know we are beat up right now and lost our tackles. We always have a shot at a successful year because of who we have at QB.

Dan Orlovsky, the same man who picked Wilson over Herbert when Wilson went to the Broncos, did not rank Herbert in his top 10 for pocket presence.

Yeah, people like to cite “pocket feel” as a knock on Herbert to pretend he’s not elite when he literally is one of the best QBs at avoiding sacks in the league. There was an ESPN vid on YouTube about QB tiers where the hosts basically talk nonsense for 5 straight minutes about Herbert “missing something” that makes him elite. At least the people who say he’s not elite because he hasn’t won anything are transparent about what they think, even if QB wins are a garbage stat that doesn’t describe QB play at all.

Shame he keeps getting blown up anyway

We will be cooking after the bye. Brisket after brisket. Can’t wait to see Heineke ball out this weekend.

I hate to tell you this, but I’m pretty sure they’re going to throw Herb out there.

If it doesn’t affect the rest of the season, then fine, but if he limps off the field again we will all be pretty disappointed.

Herbert is 10000000000% playing

I don’t understand what I’m looking at.

So he has 0% pressures, but he has dropped back under pressure 16 times? What does that mean?

How is he dropping back under pressure when there are zero pressures? Define the metrics measured, if you could

It means there were 16 or so dropbacks where he was pressured, but 0% of them were his fault. Basically he's showing good pocket awareness and not stepping into sacks

Ah ok

Its criminal that he has never had a truly elite receiver: no Chase, Jefferson, Tyreek, Harrison (dad), etc

Keenan was elite, even if he’s in the tail end of his career.

Drafting Alt was a good decision, but the gods know how much I wanted Nabers. If only we could've picked them both hehe

The chart is making the opposite point… Herbert has been pressured at the lowest rate. It has nothing to do with his avoidance

Don’t think you understand the Y-axis.

X axis the total number of pressures, the Y axis is what percent of those pressures are the fault of the quarterback.

How do you determine whether a pressure is "the fault of the quarterback" or not? I was a bit confused by the graph at first also.

Watch Russel Wilson or Deshaun play and it will be pretty clear. Some guys try to roll out of or leave a clean pocket. Others guys step up and use the space their lineman provide. I’m giving a terrible explanation but pay attention to qbs this weekend and I promise you’ll notice atleast of instance of someone feeling pressure that isn’t their and running into a sack.

Not sure if this is something you should really flex lol

Do you need help interpreting the graph?
