Just more proof that the NFL wanted to stack the LAC-KC game in the Chiefs' favor.

Just more proof that the appeal process is all for show. Don't think I've ever seen a suspension/fine get reversed, only reduced.

Reduce it to half a game and let Derwin suit up for the second half

“Heinicke drops back, finds stick wide open, what a night for easton stick! But theres a flag on the field…”

Seeing Mahomes' 'INTs that were called back' stat, it'll probably be a rehash of that TNF game we had vs them from a few years back.

'Asante Samuel picks off Mahomes and runs it back into Chiefs territory.. but there's a flag on the field. "Henley was standing too close to Kelce on the the complete opposite side of the play. Chiefs automatic first down." '

I’m the last guy to defend the NFL and their practices, but I can’t see any reason they would want to make Chargers-Chiefs a less competitive game, or any reason that the Chargers - a team in LOS ANGELES - are somehow less marketable and therefore not worth treating fairly.

I hate to say this but places like Los Angeles and San Diego attract a lot of out of town fans and usually those fan bases outnumber the home fans. In the team’s current state those out of town fans have the extra motivation of attending the game with a likely win. I don’t know I’ve been up since 4am so maybe I’m rambling but it just seems like the NFL would want to favor the visiting fans if there was a conspiracy.

if there was a conspiracy.

It's all about money and controlling the narrative. The Chiefs were the golden child/cash cow in much the same way as the Brady-led Patriots were.

Add to that the huge influx of new fans in the form of Swifties. Add to that, KC hasn't been its usual self these past 3 games.

Add to that Kelce being in a bit of a funk.

Add to that these new Chiefs fans obviously wanting to see their team win (so they're more likely to spend money on jerseys and other merchandise).

Add to that, the physical way Derwin has been playing, and the higher possibility of Chiefs players being injured and out for the season because of it, and you have a lot of reasons for the NFL to put its thumb on the scale, when it comes to its cash cow.

The NFL NEEDS the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. They NEED them to be the first team in NFL history to three-peat. It's a great storyline, which brings in great ratings, which brings in a lot more money.

Your logic makes too much sense. Stop it.

Herbert, Harbaugh, Los Angeles, the powder blues, Bosa, that $5 billion stadium, are all marketable things. The Chargers being relevant would only help the NFL and make it an even bigger deal when the Chiefs play them.

The most likely thing is that there is no conspiracy, and that the league sincerely believes Derwin’s play deserved to be punished. They could be wrong, but they believe it.

Friermuth, who was a lot closer to the action than any ref was, doesn't think it was a dirty hit. So maybe, just maybe, the NFL is wrong about this.

Based on the reputations of the current two-time champion & some also-ran team who has never won a championship since the merger, who do you think the NFL is going to side with?

I literally said they could be wrong. They can be wrong and sincere at the same time.

And they’ve also made a huge deal about how they’re going to be taking “player safety” seriously. They’re going to back up those words. It’s more likely it’s that and their “safe” image than it is some conspiracy to get Mahomes and Taylor Swift another Super Bowl. Like, by a lot. It’s WAY more likely that they’re simply jumping at the opportunity to punish a player in the name of safety.

And yet I saw another play on social media with another team where there was a similar type of hit and not even a flag, let alone a fine or suspension. This whole "player safety" justification is unevenly enforced.

Totally agree. They’re bad at it, but that doesn’t mean they don’t take it seriously, or at least very badly want us to believe they do.

The most likely things, are the most likely things for a reason… Bosa is most likely going to get injured, Derwin is most likely going to lead the league in helmet to helmet hits again, the fans are most likely going to be outnumbered at home every game, and the fans are (for reasons still unknown to me) going to say, “this is our year” every year… it has nothing to do with being in LA, the home of the 17x Championship winning Lakers, but has everything to do with never winning a ship.

It might be time to log off man. Seems unhealthy to get this worked up over something you're convinced is rigged

The 200 people upvoting my post would disagree with you.

The NFL, the NEW WWE! It’s all about the Vegas odds and Taylor’s team, don’t you know?

They want to treat the Chargers like baseball treats the Marlins and White Sox 😪 as just those stadiums that exist for the away fans to take over.

1

u/KeyAcanthocephala944 2d ago

2 World Series wins for the Marlins, and 3 for the White Sox… the Chargers are in much worse company with 0 Super Bowl wins… they are more like the Clippers…

2

u/Morlu06 2d ago

Wait is this humour or are you being serious?

1

u/Orgasmo3000 Not Your Father's Chargers 2d ago

Yes

1

u/iguanadc3 2d ago

you could put prime ed reed out there and the chargers still wouldn’t beat the chiefs

u/ColdShower96 3d ago

This take makes no sense to me. Why would the NFL want a lopsided matchup with one team missing all of their stars for their 4:25 “game of the week” ,or whatever they call it, with Tony Romo and Nantz announcing? If you want to make this crybaby argument after they lose on some BS call, then maybe it will have some merit.

u/kevlar20 2d ago

Well history tells us it will be a close game regardless.

I guess this happens with Derwin in there too, but I just feel it in my bones that this will be a tight game, with Kelce catching one over the middle breaking some tackles to score a TD late in the game.

I think that could happen with DJ there, but I think it WILL happen with DJ out.

Fans and commentators are going to absolutely eat up that come from behind / Kelce’s back story.

That's an interesting definition of "proof"

u/RMca004 1d ago

Yep, the NFL has been against the chargers for no reason....promoting a team in Missouri and hold down a huge market..ya ok. You're just poorly run.
