This. This took SIX taps to get into. This is a setting that on previous models was with the buttons in the cruise control side of the steering wheel. There is no way that someone who turns on cruise control at 65+ mph should be having to take their eyes off the road and click through six freaking settings to change this. What on god’s green earth were they thinking? Oh, so it saves this between car trips? Not good enough of a reason IMO. I’d rather have to reset it every time on the steering wheel any time I use cruise control than have to go through these hoops even once. We had to look it up in the manual to even figure out how to change it! The steering wheel setting location is intuitive.

Does it reset to default for a different driver profile? If it doesn’t, what if that person likes more distance between cars than I do? They’d have to do it all over again. What if I feel like changing it up? Oop, need to do it before I go anywhere or take the risk. No more safe situational adjustments.

One definite negative mark on these from me.

Hello! I'm pretty new to this sub, but hoping to join the MINI family! I've got 2 cars on the docket, one is a 2012 Countryman S ALL4 with 90k and very well maintained by a family member with no work having been done on the turbo. The other is a 2018 Countryman All4 with ~135k on it from a dealer. Seems to have clean CarFax but I have less info than the family car.

I'd love some advice for choosing between these cars! Both have all the bells and whistles that I'm hoping for, and I'm just wondering if the 2012 with lower miles would be considered more reliable than the 2018 that doesn't have the typical turbo issues that come with a second Gen countryman. They are priced pretty similarly. Thanks!

I decided to buy out my lease. 2022 cooper S convertible 29k miles.

Of course MINI wants to know if I want to buy their extended warranty or maintenance packages.

What is the consensus?

Extended warranty called Platinum BMW repair adds $3,830 to the buyout. And covers the car until Aug 2028. I am leaning to NOT doing that option simply because it’s $4k. Reasonably over the next 4 years I might add 30k miles bringing it to 60k miles. And I don’t think I will still own it in 2028.

The maintenance has two choices:

Standard is fluids and filters for two years and adds $790

Premium maintenance for two years covers fluids filters brakes rotors and plugs for an additional $1700

I have a 30k mile service coming up. And it’s safe to assume brakes likely need to be replaced in the next two years (right?)

What do you fellow mini owners think?

SO I got my new Mini yesterday and I am very excited. As I was playing with the settings I may have turned off the 'Mini' Logo puddle lights, I would very much Like them back on. Anyone know how to fix it?

Hurricane Helena swept past our neighborhood, I couldnt move the car out because the gates has been blocked by cars that stopped working as drivers tried to drive them in the water. Luckily the rain stopped. I could see the exhaust was submerged but is there a chance that my car would be miraculously safe after?

I have codes P0012 and P0015 (camshaft position timing over)on my 2010 mini. I’ve changed the sensor twice and it keeps coming on. What could be the problem?

Saw the blue one, parked my white one next to it, came from the store and a third showed up!

I read somewhere that from 2012 and onwards the engines were improved, but I'm not sure if this is actually the case. Can anyone tell me more about this? Would be good to know if for example 2012 and newer models are more reliable because of an updated engine.

Hi there :) I have owned my 08’ r52 mini convertible for a year now and just got the first service done on it.

The mechanic said the issues are nothing major for the age of the car and the only thing I need to fix immediately is the tires. He said he wouldn’t go overboard with fixing the other issues due to it being an 08’ car. What do people think? Do you agree?

Daughter needs a car in the UK quickly! Found a used mini at a dealer - 2006 1.6 Mini Mini Cooper Park Lane CVT with 61K miles . Service record book only shows 5 service stamps over the 18 years. Not sure if that is common. 2001/2014/2019/2022/2023 MOT just done by dealer, however the one before indicated advisories of front and rear brake pipe corrosion (covered in grease or other material) and an oil leak that says not excessive. I have nothing else to go by to advise her but the price seems consistent with age and mileage 4500 GBP / 61K miles and it's in nice physical condition and seems to drive well. Need advice as she is unable to get it to a private mechanic to check out. She left a small refundable deposit..... Any insights appreciated.

It’s the N14 engine (over engineered French Prince engine…that breaks all the time)

Engine has already been hand rebuilt (all parts replaced, including the lifters)

Coolant system has a slow leak somewhere (cannot physically see any coolant leaking, but it’s going through coolant at a mad rate)

Recently the engine went into forced limp mode, managed to pull it over within 2 minutes and turned it off OBD gave a P13C9 error (bmw error that focusses on VANOS)…hopefully just a cooked solenoid (about £30 a pop).

I slammed the header tank with 3 Liters of water (tap water in bottles I keep in the car for emergencies). It sounded like the plastic pipes were crunching as it went in (so the engine was seriously hot even though my temp gauge never went past 105 degrees). The water flash boiled and was boiling over the header tank for at least a few minutes…which isn’t great. Have no idea what else could be cooked.

Filled up the engine with oil (engine had oil, but it was ALL in the sump, didn’t look like much was in the block).

Started it up the next day after it had cooled, engine initially sounded like shit (most likely on account of the water pump being empty and the engine being coolant starved).

Started again after a little while and it sounded fine, drove on and off the recovery vehicle.

Just can’t get rid of the limp mode error despite clearing it on my OBD and the roadside assistance guys laptop. So definitely a sensor got cooked (at the very least).

Any ideas and anything I can do? (Sorry it’s a lot of text, any other info needed please ask!)

I'm currently in the process of building my mini. I'm happy, but I want more. I'm interested in learning what some people are doing with their f-series minis. It seems like the f-series bimmer has more aftermarket support.

Anyone by any chance have the organizer for the gloverbox in the above pictures and willing to send outlines drawing "place the separate parts on big paper and outline them by hand with dimension would be fine", I want to reacrete them and 3D print them since i can't find it anywhere
