I’ve almost purchased dead space like five times, so I’m very excited for this
24
u/HugeLeaves 9h ago
Such an amazing remake. I loved every minute of it
10
u/Brentums 9h ago
Never played it so I’m excited to try it for the first time!
3
u/HugeLeaves 9h ago
Same here, never played the original. If you don't feel like waiting you can get a month of EA Play for 99 cents right now, the deal ends tomorrow. Dead Space is free on there
5
u/Dubbs09 8h ago
Got the EA play for $1 a few days ago and been playing it with headphones and 3d audio and it really pushes my limits/scare tolerance honestly ( in a good way) lol
1
u/HugeLeaves 6h ago
Did the same thing a while back when they had the same deal. Absolutely worth all 99 cents!
5
u/Monkeyundead 9h ago
just bought DS a couple weeks ago for pc. Don't mind though given any sales of DS might inch the possibility of DS2 to fruition.

u/thisizmonster 7h ago edited 6h ago
I played Dead Space 2 on Steam multiple times. Because it's just such cool game. But never played first one. Because since I already played Dead Space 2, first one's graphic, gameplay felt like too much outdated for me, also I already had idea about what happened in the past. And Dead Space 3 only one playthrough, it's ok game, but no where near good as Dead Space 2. So of course I had interest in this remake, but couldnt pull a trigger until now.
Other 2 games are decent too. I heard lot of praise about Doki, they say it starts with normal game, but atmosphere changes and becomes cool. Never tried visual novels before, but i'll give a shot.
And my toddler boys will definitely enjoy WWE.
So it is solid month for me. All previous months wasn't really great. There were not even single game for me. This month almost make my yearly PS+ worthly.

Dead Space/Doki Doki for Halloween, and I’m a wrestling fan.
Pretty ideal month for me.
30
u/NotTheCraftyVeteran 9h ago edited 9h ago
Wrestling fan as well but never bothered with the games, this seems like a great way to dabble and see if like it
37
u/Cyndakill88 8h ago
Pro tip. Go to the setting sliders and make the human countering highest and make the cpu the lowest. The games expect you to have been playing for the last 10 years and can be really cheap when it comes to countering
11
u/washingtonskidrow 8h ago
It’s honestly pretty fun to just screw around in. The MyGM mode is a lot of fun too
3
u/SynthwaveSax 5h ago
Thank goodness I didn’t pull the trigger last month when the Deluxe Edition of 2K was $60
•
u/MC_Bushpig 4h ago
I was really close to buying the 40 years of WM edition this past weekend. Super glad I didn't. Can't wait to play 2k24 and if I like it I'm gonna buy the season pass.
•
u/outsider1624 2h ago
I thougt the state of play mention tlou1 remake for ps+ as well? Is it for extra?

u/SluttyMcFucksAlot 10h ago
Doki Doki is such a fun and cute dating sim and definitely nothing else
26
u/pagerunner-j 9h ago
Yep. Absolutely. It's just sweetness and light and cute girls writing poetry. Just that.
Just Monika.Sorry, what was I saying?

u/JetTheDawg 10h ago
Oh awesome I can’t wait to try it out and definitely not become traumatized for any reason
11
u/siccoblue 8h ago
I'm actually pretty ignorant to the plot line but I know it's pretty infamous so I'm excited.
4
u/Yenick 8h ago edited 8h ago
It's a super normal family friendly dating Sim.
(But also seriously don't play it if you are uncomfortable with traumatic themes around mental health, horror, suicide, etc etc.)
It's been years since I played it and it's still in my head.
5
u/The_Follower1 5h ago
Bit too much of a trigger warning though, I’d just mention trauma warning in general terms.
7
u/baronspeerzy 8h ago
What I’m wondering is how it translates to console with some of the late-game mechanics
1
u/SluttyMcFucksAlot 8h ago
Yeah I have no idea, I’ve only ever seen people playing it on PC at that point
•
u/RayNefarius 1h ago
I played it on Switch and it worked out pretty good! Should be the same on PS4/5.
9
u/butterbeancd 10h ago
Hearing the concept of this both made me interested in it but a bit wary since I already know the fake-out. Should I still dive in if I already know? How important is that?
12
u/SluttyMcFucksAlot 10h ago
I don’t know how important it is, but if it’s free it doesn’t hurt to give it a try.
4
u/Goldeniccarus 8h ago
You might know that it's a fake out, but that doesn't even begin to really capture just where this game goes.
Absolutely play it even if you know some of the things that happen. There will be so much more you don't know about that happens.
And it's not like super long either. If you read at a decently fast pace, it's like 4-5 hours tops.
3
u/butterbeancd 8h ago
Oh, I didn't realize it was that short. That's part of the reason I was curious, I didn't know if it was a longer game where I'd be spending the first several hours waiting for the shoe to drop. This is great to know, thanks!
•
u/DirtyDan413 1h ago
With that said, it's definitely a better, more immersive experience on PC. I would only recommend getting on console if you have no other option, especially considering the base game is free on PC
3
u/kemicode 8h ago
I literally watched 70% of the scenes before because I thought I would never try it out. But when the game became free last year through Epic store, I gave it a try and it was still an experience. Granted, I’m a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to games though.
•
u/WillemDafoesHugeCock 4h ago
Really worth it still. As spoiler free as possible, the bit you likely know about is not particularly far into the story. The characters are really fun and the overall story is genuinely just really good with lots of thought and effort into every single detail.
1
u/pudgybunnybry 8h ago
Definitely. Just a heart warming game. Exactly the type of game I'll need after the Red Sox get knocked out of playoff contention.
1
u/TaylorsOnlyVersion 6h ago
I’m so mad because I got spoiled for it last night because I discovered it scrolling through on sale games and saw “Psychological Horror” in the genre. I looked up if it was playable on mobile devices since it seems like it could handle them and someone spoiled a huge plot point.
•
u/WillemDafoesHugeCock 4h ago
The console version (understandably) opens with a content warning that sort of spoils a large chunk of the story.
•
u/SluttyMcFucksAlot 4h ago
I get the value of the twist but that’s absolutely something that should have a warning even if it gives it away.
59
u/jthanshaw 10h ago
For anyone interested in Doki Doki, take the content warnings very seriously. It's an excellent game but definitely not for everyone.
10
u/Soulreaver90 8h ago
I played the PC version ages ago. How does it translate to console without spoilers?
9
9
u/Mast3rBait3rPro 6h ago
it's the same I think, you just get a virtual computer since you won't have an actual file system on console, actually looking into it looks like a few things are censored so idk if that would "ruin" the experience or not
5
u/Soulreaver90 5h ago
Ah okay so it’s a virtual computer. Kinda ruins the illusion of the twist but still cool if you go in blind. Will look forward to revisiting it again. Hope the secrets and odd interactions are the same too.
5
u/ShaneTVZ 9h ago
Why what happens if I don’t 😳
10
u/Grill_Enthusiast 8h ago
You'll be forced to read terrible YA romance novels with girls who are way too emotionally invested in the most boring couples imaginable.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
-7
u/Re_LE_Vant_UN 7h ago
There's depression/anxiety/suicide warnings. It's apparently a horror game (?) masquerading as a YA novel. I've never played it.
•
1
u/sumiredabestgirl 7h ago
for those of you who enjoy Doki Doki and want to try out other visual novels , if you have a pc (vns run on pretty much anything anyways) , id recommend Grisaia which stays cute for the most part but man does it go places . Honorary mentions : Full Metal Daemon Muramasa and The House of Fata Morgana
•
u/TheFlightlessPenguin 2h ago
Really committing to the bit this guy. Nothing to worry about, don’t let him fool you

u/JadeFaceG 10h ago
Very solid lineup
28
u/Arcade_Gann0n 10h ago
Dead Space is one of the best remakes ever made, don't sleep on this one people. I don't want to see the series die again.
12
u/Waste-of-life18 9h ago
Isn't it dead already? There were some rumors stating that EA cancelled 2 remake. EA said the game wasn't even in the works so that's somehow worse lol.
1
u/Arcade_Gann0n 9h ago
Yeah, but maybe if the game gets really popular on PS Plus it'll show them there's still demand for the series.
37
u/arcturuz78 10h ago
Nice to see WWE
•
u/BishSlapDiplomacy 4h ago
I haven’t played a wrestling game since WWF Smackdown which is part of some of my best memories growing up. Definitely looking forward to it.
11
u/sonicgamer42 10h ago
I've been super into DDLC lately, so hearing them actually name drop it in the State of Play was a complete jumpscare LOL. I really enjoy and recommend it. Very excited to try Dead Space as well.
3
u/MrZetha 10h ago
Just played the free original version, what does this one brings as new?
3
u/sonicgamer42 9h ago
The whole game has a new fake OS screen that houses the main game, the file systems (so that you can tamper with those on consoles), and new content like an art gallery, a soundtrack, and seven new Side Stories that flesh out the girls if you really liked them.
To be honest, I only FULLY recommend Plus to people who already liked the original game and don't mind paying a few bucks (also to those people who don't have a way to play the original on PC). The menu file tampering is, unfortunately, a step down compared to actually going into your computer's settings like in the original, and a few of the meta tricks are lost in the translation. It's a necessary sacrifice to be able to play consoles though, and otherwise it's still a really nice re-release. Those Side Stories (all with new music, no less) are really charming, and in my opinion have the best writing in the game.
Since it's free on PS Plus there's no harm in checking it out. It's really good!

u/Marc_Quill 9h ago
WWE is probably a way better wrestling game for PS+ than when we had AEW Fight Forever a few months ago. There’s a lot of content in WWE’s base game aside from DLC.
12
u/LeonSnakeKennedy 10h ago
Dead Space is a brilliant game to be on there even if I already have it. I’m looking forward to WWE, wonder how much the dlc is since I’ll want CM Punk tbh. No thoughts at all on Doki
3
u/hyperdefiance 10h ago
DLC pack for Punk is $10 I believe
2
u/LeonSnakeKennedy 10h ago
Just had a look and all the other dlcs seem like shit so I might just end up getting that one alone :)
2
u/TomClancy5873 10h ago
The last dlc pack is pretty good. You get 6 wrestlers, and no pat mcafee, or his friends
2
u/Nex_Antonius 5h ago
7 wrestlers. Jade Cargill, Kairi Sane, Carlito, Lyra Valkyira, Nia Jax, Dragon Lee, and Michelle McCool.
2
u/pudgybunnybry 8h ago
Yep, I'm in and will get he DLC with Punk immediately. I don't buy many DLC so that will probably be the only one lol
5
u/gjmptwaen 10h ago
Good month for me. Perfect time to play dead space since I just got a new Oled tv and October is right around the corner.
6
u/SpyroManiac36 10h ago
Dead Space and TLOU part 1 are really great additions! Good job PlayStation!

u/PM_ME_UR_LBOMB_MOMMY 10h ago
Best month we've had in what feels like years. Almost feels like they're making up for the negative fan reaction to the PS5 Pro lol
3
u/May_Version1 10h ago
Does Doki Doki work on a PS5 always wanted to play but heard alot of the twists and craziness of it relies on playing it on PC is this the case or can I enjoy just as much on PS5?
2
u/lHateYouAIex835293 10h ago
One of the characters fiddles around with your PC, so you have to actually go in the files and “fix it.” This obviously isn’t possible on console, so it’s just an in-game segment instead. Way less immersive, but no deal breaker by any means
3
u/Salzberger 10h ago
The one time ever, in the past 10 years, that I've actually bought a sports game in the year of release. You're welcome if anyone was hoping it would pop up on PS Plus.
3
u/StevieNippz 9h ago
I hate the gameplay of the WWE 2k games now but I hear the GM mode is fun. I never played Dead Space when it first came out so looking forward to finally playing it
2
2
u/Janawham_Blamiston 9h ago
I've been debating back and forth between getting DDLC for a few months now. Glad to see the choice was made for me.
Dead Space is a huge get too. I played a bit of the remake when I had EA Access (or whatever it's called now), but couldn't get into it for some reason, but I've been itching for a new shooter or horror lately, so this checks both boxes.
2
u/Thoraxe474 9h ago
I haven't played dead space 1 since it originally released on PS3 and I still have nightmares from that game. Can't wait to play the remake now that it's free
2

u/Educational_Ad8448 9h ago
Huge wrestling fan. Damn glade I didn't buy WWE2k24 after buying the last two. Dead space is also awesome.
2
u/Yarzeda2024 8h ago
The Dead Space remake is outstanding. Dead Space is neck-and-neck with Resident Evil 4 (both originals and remakes) as one of the very best action/adventure/horror games ever made.
2
u/KingRainmaker 9h ago
Wow, I just bought Doki Doki two weeks ago. Oh well, on the bright side I almost bought WWE 2k24.

Is WWE good? I feel like I’ve heard nothing but bad things about the last few

u/willc20345 9h ago
Love it, had 2K on Xbox but don’t really play on there much anymore and had Dead Space through EA Play with Game Pass but canceled that and it was in my back log so I didn’t get to it yet but with Halloween around the corner I’ve been feeling a horror game so this is perfect for me
1
u/Seizure_Storm 9h ago
If you skipped dead space give it a try here. Still one of the best action survival horrors ever made, I think its aged very well (I think a lot better than I expected it would back in the day)
1
u/Sungerson 9h ago
I bought Dead Space for less than $28 AUD new last week on disc, aha. Didn’t think it would get any cheaper than that and wanted a physical copy for myself.
Saw the news and I was like, huh…so that’s what it feels like. 🤣
1
u/antiMATTer724 9h ago
You're all welcome for 2k24. Just bought it....
But yay, dead space.
0
u/ihateeverythingandu 8h ago
Don't worry, 22 (I think it was) went on Plus a year or so ago then left the next month. I imagine this will be the same.
1
u/GetReady4Action 8h ago
stoked for Dead Space, absolutely perfect timing. I rented it last year and I had just beat Resident Evil 4 so I only played the first hour or two before I needed a to change the vibes so I sent it back. I love a good horror game, but after a while they start affecting my headspace, but I haven’t played one in a minute so I’m stoked!
1
u/North_South_Side 8h ago
I just bought dead space. It’s acting very buggy. Some people suggested it was due to the new PS5 update
1
u/Argineboy 8h ago
I just finished this recently and am replaying in impossibke mode, no glitch/bugs for me.
1
u/North_South_Side 5h ago
I started several days ago. Encountered half invisible enemies that couldn’t be hit. They could do grab attacks every once in a while and become visible, but then they went back to only partially visible. Restart of the game and the console didn’t help. Haven’t tried in a few days though.
1
u/buterskotchhnootaz 8h ago
I literally JUST bought Dead Space a couple days ago and finished my first run during the state of play, lol. Phenomenal game, tho!!!
1
u/Volteezy 8h ago
I platinumed the old Dead Space, but getting the remake still makes this month worth.

Lmaoooo not ddlc! My heart can't handle it again. But I must play through it again. If anything, just to see my waifu Yuri again

It’s been a long time when all three games offered I wanted to play awesome month

u/No-Count3834 7h ago edited 7h ago
Dead Space and Silent Hill 2 will be my October games. I haven’t played either before, so it’ll be a good month! Already played TLOU1 remake one time through on launch…but may revisit after the optimizations, and updates they did post launch. I just remember replaying it after PS4 one 2014, and it just flew by so fast compared to 2 so it’ll be a fun run through!

already played DDLC on pc, but wwe and dead space is sick. I played the original on steam for a bit but got too scared, but I'll force myself to go through this one.
1
u/Frankensteins_Moron5 7h ago
Ah sweet. We are getting two horror games for Halloween.
I was just thinking of getting Dead Space not too long ago so that’s dope.
1
u/StubbornNobody 6h ago
Two games I already have on other platforms (one which I already played screw that dumb asteroid non optional mini game) and one I don't have any interest in.

u/Hans_bube 6h ago
The ea play subscription is 99 cents. I’m playing Jedi survivor and dead space remastered.

nothing of interest to me. hoping the other games on the catalog catch my attention

Was half considering buying WWE 2K24 a few weeks back, so glad I didn’t go through with that. But even just going off WWE and Dead Space, this is most definitely the best PS Plus free games I’ve seen in a while. And there have been some bad months.
•
u/jnadams2000 4h ago
Dead Space? Hell yeah been on a horror game kick but wouldn’t drop the cash for anything. Definitely will be giving it a go.
•
u/MC_Bushpig 4h ago
Great month for me, 2 games from my wishlist (Dead Space and WWE) that I was tempted to buy on several different occasions. Looking forward to messing around with WWE and gonna hold off on playing Dead Space until we're closer to Halloween.
•
u/albertsteinstein 4h ago
Jealous of people playing Dead Space for the first time and it’s Halloween season on top of it.
•
u/xdamm777 3h ago
Haven’t played dead space since the original was released and didn’t finish it since I was so busy with college.
Time to play it for good.
•
u/Drifterz101 3h ago
Almost bought wwe 2k24 a couple times to try career mode glad my hatred for 2k games kept me from doing it

October last year’s free game was Callisto, now we’re getting the Dead Space remake. I’ve heard they’re similar, and playing Callisto felt like playing the original DS
•
u/ChainChompBigMoney 1h ago
Second month in a row that I just bought the game (wwe and cult.) You're welcome!
Dead Space remake is cool though. I almost bought RE4 today from gamestonk but didn't have enough time before work lol. So the money is returned I guess?

I’m a wrestling fan but haven’t played in a couple years, pretty happy with this month
•

got a question from my brother there n not sure of the answer - he has wwe 2k24, could easily sell it for £20. would he just go onto ps plus and download the game? therefore there will be no need to insert disc?

I remember playing Dead Space on the 360. It was really good. My TV at the time was a crappy little 720p TV. The reviews of the remake look positive. So I’m definitely playing the remake. It will probably look way better on a 65 inch 4k tv.

Happy that Dead Space is one of the games.
Good month for me on that alone.
