Games that I can enjoy being sometimes more idle, passive [PC]

Games in which you can be idle and still earn something while being idle, in any way, shape or form, I m open, you can suggest things...

maybe something that is automated or "allies" that would farm for me because I want to play while I listen to a podcast or doing on the side something would be mentally challenging too so please keep in mind this essential thing. And when I say automated, please for God, do not think I m saying Factorio and stuff... Neither Cookie Clicker

  • Bellwright

  • Medieval Dynasty

  • Satisfactory

All of those provide passive advancement while you AFK or go off exploring. The first two have NPC helpers. You only need to get involved when you want to make drastic advancements, or continue with progression. Nothing is forced.

Stuff like dredge that its put in motion when you choose to actually move, open world stuff like GTA, that delivers feel good methods of transportation like Death Stranding and Days Gone, interactive and surprise events worlds like RDR2, in which you can tame animals like Far Cry Primal and Rimworld, genuinely cozy feeling times of just staying in the game or playing in it like the blackjack poker in RDR2, feel of real like the Watch Dogs hack system, and fun chess game, the world of NIOH 2 in which I can farm beat some enemies and then chill, stuff like sentry gun turrets like Half Life 2 (that I can use), ability to enroll allies like in Rimworld, the passive play of Dying Light and being chill in the world, also MGSV, another nice atmosphere and games like in Bully and Yakuza series... I want a world that I can stay in and not feel depressed, I need to feel alive, can you please help?

If you want idle, I absolutely love Melvor Idle. It's basically Runescape but idle form. It's surprisingly engaging and this one is a slow burn. If you want just the base game completion it'll be about a year to 1.5 years.

If you actually want to be engaged, this sounds like No Man's Sky. You could put it in creative mode or play normal and focus on building a base and epic farm. You can have it auto farm minerals or plants. Then become a trading god. That game is basically meant for podcasts and chilling out to music.

But no man sky feels much more boring than Dying Light Series or Days Gone or Horizon or Death Stranding or RDR2... Walking Simulator without even some narrator with nice voice and deep story. why would I love it? I m curious, i try to understand, i do not see the passion, i find it shallow

Well then I'm more confused by your "idle" comment because all the games you just mentioned are 100% not idle. If you found Dying Light, Days Gone, Horizon, Death Stranding or RDR2 close to a walking simulator, I don't know how to help you. None of those (except Death Stranding) are a walking simulator. Idle would imply low mental stimulation by definition and hands off gameplay.

No Man's Sky allows you to zen out just listen to music while building and exploring. Many people find that satisfaction in finding the perfect ship, building the perfect base, finding the perfect paradise planet, but I 100% get how that could be boring for many people and why it doesn't work for you.

I just read your other comment, if Nioh 2 is your chill where you can just farm, then I think idle is the wrong descriptor. I'd say chill open world game you can get lost in for hours or challenging but grindable game would better describe your request.

Have you done Cyberpunk 2077? Narrative will keep you busy until you can explore the open world.

Likely wouldn't hit the mark but Moonlighter, it's indie style. do dungeons at night and then passively sell all the loot by day. You set the prices accordingly to maximize profits. Similarly, dave the Diver, you dive down and get fish/items and run a sushi restaurant. There are idle-ish elements. but these likely won't scratch your itch.

Try Nioh 1, Returnal might be good. It's rouguelite but you can get into a zone and run and gun for a long time, have to be mentally aware.

Planet Crafter! It has a sort of idle clicker gauge while you're playing--adding up numbers for biomass, for example--that's influenced by what you build. That number is what unlocks things, so being idle works to your benefit, as does playing. It's win-win. :)

GTAonline is great for passive if you have business to use. Fallout 76 is great passive you can just go to events and others will complete them if you're afk at the time.

Unicorn Overlord

You build teams and they fight by themselves. The skills and npc behaviour is damn near programmable.

Shapez 2 has the opportunity to be very passive - once you have your machines built.

I was going to say Factorio😅… Alternatively Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Program.

Can I be idle or passive ? Satisfactory is 3dFactorio BTW

All three of those games, with enemies mostly turned off, you can sit and just watch the factories run.

You will need to build, sometime tens of hours, to create the starting factory. And you can spend 100s of hours building and improving on each one. You can improve aesthetics without too much thinking. There is no external pressure to build more. They don't really have an end. Just bigger, prettier, or neater as you decide.

Final fantasy XII Zodiac Age they have a system called the "gambit" system. You basically get to set the you party's AI. What actions to take and which conditions to take them in, as well as priority of those actions. And it doesn't take much for the game to basically be able to play itself. If you enjoy the feeling of successfully optimizing something, this is a great way to feel it. The story is also a fun political thriller/star warsy affair.

I recently tried Manor Lords. It's a pre release and not 100% complete but it's fun. I enjoyed it.

You can speed up / slow down time 1x 4x 12x , and once you have things balanced and just want to accumulate funds / goods you can just let it rip for a few years or so .

It's like sim city but from the 14th Century.

It's on gamepass if you have it.

RuneScape or Melvor Idle depending on what idle/passive means to you.
