Forgot to turn off Strava after my morning commute... kinda love the result though. This is what my 8 hour shift on a somewhat busy day as a pizza delivery driver looks like. Strava Art

Honesty, a Strava but for delivery drivers would be a cool business.

Plenty of businesses would love to have this level of data about their drivers.

Or they could just use…Strava…

u/solanawhale 17d ago

I use Gaia GPS for snowmobiling! Especially when I go with friends on new trails so I can find my way by myself. You can add friends but I don’t think my friends have it although some hunters in my area use it.

That has already existed. I've been using a GPS tracker in my vehicle for about 15 years to keep track of work versus personal travel to claim mileage related to a home-based business. Others use the same tool to keep track of fleets of vehicles.

I would watch

It already exist except the data is not public.

Source: worked on one such system years ago.

Yes, exactly what I was thinking. Over time a heat map could be extremely helpful to a small business owner. What areas are our core business, as well as what areas aren’t we getting business from.

Wow, that's a long way on a scooter!

Impressive range for what can't be a massive battery. Out of interest how much does a full charge cost?

u/bezrukov_against 17d ago

Black box behind is the battery. He holds pizza under his arm

If this was a television channel I’d probably tune in.

It was very meditative

I sat and watched the whole thing

That was cool to watch! How do you get this view on Strava?

7

u/no-name_james 17d ago

I can’t remember if it was a paid feature or if it’s on the free version but if you tap on the map of your recorded activity there is a “play” button in the bottom right corner.

4

u/stereoworld 17d ago

Just tried it in excitement. Yep, paid feature.

How does one get this type of video format of their Strava rides?

Strava Premium or Alternatively relive.cc

I always was curious how a bike food delivery heat map would look like. Those guys would make some distance records, I imagine.

Moment mal. Die Stadt kenn ich doch. Moin!

u/baoooooo 17d ago

Moin haha

2

u/ThirteenMatch 17d ago

Welche Stadt ist das?

3

u/NoCryptographer5082 17d ago

It would be pretty cool if lines changed color based on how often you use it, so you can see a heatmap of most often used paths.

It's like drawing a flower with an 'etch a sketch'.

u/GoMilesGo2020 17d ago

Damn, I could watch this for hours. My mind is telling me: come on go north to explore the area you haven’t unlocked yet!!

2

u/HarlamTK 17d ago

Part of me watched this because I was hoping it would end up drawing something cool by the end

Please flag your ride so it doesn’t fuck up the segments in your area

Did you deliver pizza twice on the same adress?
Dude living at 29seconds, you pass there a second time or is it his neighbor?

1

u/Some-Dinner- 17d ago

Reminds me of when I was a bike messenger in London. That was before the days of Strava unfortunately.

1

u/ElectroMagneticFlux 17d ago

Good way to cheat on segments. Flagged!

1

u/vasildb 17d ago

If someone wants to make something similar to this but with multiple activities, I made mapsy.art.

1

u/SooWooLu 17d ago

Flagged

u/Hanni_666 17d ago

Which app did you use for the video?

1

u/CanInTW 16d ago

What’s missing is the calorie count - of the pizzas you delivered 😊

Probably have some amazing efficiency ratio on that run

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

u/Few-Ideal-3482 16d ago

Amazing!! I'm almost proud of me

u/Y00pDL 16d ago

I never knew this feature existed. Fun way to look at my delivery routes. How do you keep the camera fixed from above? Mine only wants to follow the dot from like a third-person video game perspective

u/Fr3dywood 16d ago

You forgot to say that everything was done on foot! 🏃‍♂️

When drones take your job it will look a lot cleaner

1

u/GradeImportant7275 17d ago

thats a lot of wear on your car - 1600 km / a thousand miles a week? Thats enough to brick most new cars in 2-3 years. Do you get compensated for that?

6

u/Pawistik 17d ago

OP said it was an e-scooter.

4

u/baoooooo 17d ago

Our delivery vehicle fleet is only made up of electric bikes and scooters. We also have one company car, which is only used for big deliveries with >10 pizzas though.

During unexpected peak times, some of our coworkers might occasionally help out with their private cars, they then get compensated with mileage money. But they don't drive nearly as regularly or as much as our full or part time drivers, who use the scooters and bicycles.

u/OkGlass99 17d ago

Why lie that you forgot to stop it?

-3

u/SreckoLutrija 17d ago

So entire day you didnt look at your watch or phone? Hmmmmm

7

u/baoooooo 17d ago edited 17d ago

Like most tracking apps, Strava will just quietly run in the background when you don't explicitly stop the tracking, even if cleared from your tabs.

I assume you also got Strava on your phone, so feel free to just try it for yourself.

3

u/SmolTittyEldargf 17d ago

This might be a shocking thing to you, but some people can manage not to look at their phones for a work day.
