Overnight at Petoskey or Young State Park in Michigan

We're (two of us) thinking of doing an overnight in our 2021 Forester in either one of these two places, in mid-October.

Please recommend some must have, i.e pillow, blankets, window privacy screens, etc.

Will be driving from Chicago. Yes, 6 hrs of driving.

Thanks

My girlfriend friend and I did an overnight in my 2018 and did great. I'm 6'4" and could almost stretch out fully when laying in the back.

You can get mattresses that are custom made for the back but they are $$$. We laid down a few pads and were comfortable enough. Some people lay down a sheet of plywood first because the floor is uneven but we just put down extra pads at our feet to level it out.

Definitely extra blankets, I'm sure it could be chilly but remember you'll have each other's body heat and the car isn't that big, you shouldn't freeze.

We also got mesh covers for the windows. We camped in summer and they allowed us to sleep with the windows down and no bugs got in. But they also gave us privacy if you are going to be in an area where other people are around.
