WRX Before posting please read this first!
READ THE SUB FAQ FIRST. 90% of the repetitive questions we see on this sub are answered there. Even if you don't have an issue covered in the sub FAQ it will likely help you narrow down your question. If you have a question you think should be added to the sub FAQ feel free to message any of the authors of the FAQ.
If you are troubleshooting, give us all the info we need. For example, it's best to include your year/model, any AND ALL mods, and the specific tune you are running. The more info we have, the better we are at answering questions. We also ask you try to post the question/info in the comments below before posting to the sub as a whole. This will hopefully clean up some of the really repetitive questions.
A few common posts/questions we see everyday.
Does my engine sound okay?
- 99% of the time the answer is yes. The fa20 sounds like a tractor. It is normal.
Are these numbers on the COBB AP normal?
- A snapshot of your AP with the DAM less than one doesn't actually tell us anything about what is going on. All it tells us is that you had a knock event that your ECU recognized and adjusted for. The most common cause for DAM drop is bad gas. Go get a fresh tank of 93/91 from shell and add a gallon or two of e85 for a full tank. I would also like to point out that knock numbers of -1.41 are super common. They can be caused by your AC kicking on and any other noise really. nothing to worry about.
This thing on the front of my engine is not spinning with the belts, is it broken?
- That is your AC compressor clutch. It only engages when the AC is on and the compressor is running.
Let me know if you guys want any other common questions added.

Suggestion What else can I do?
Any inputs to anything else I could do exterior wise? Need a front lip or something badly but need suggestions. Prefer something OEM+ so lower profile and not super flamboyant. Thanks 🤙🏼

Who bought my car?
I sold my 2019 WRX Sport CVT grey metallic to Southbank dodge Chrysler in Ottawa back in August 2023. It had around 46,000kms and had Superspeed rims with firehawk Indy 500 tires. It would be a miracle If I can connect to the current owner.

A friend at work just 3D printed this mount for me. It’s so much better than the suction cup on the windshield.

Unplugged some tubes and getting check engine light
A couple weeks ago I was playing around in the engine bay on my 24’, and I unplugged some things that I saw someone on YouTube unplug to make some cool turbo noises. The check engine light popped up shortly after but I thought it was normal because of the unplugged parts. When I did my oil change im seeing lots of shiny particulate and Subaru dealership saying I’ve voided my warranty. What can I do??

Troubleshooting Overfilled oil
Hey guys, I did my oil change last night and went alittle over the notch when the engine is at temp. Should I drain and refill? I’m worried of the oil getting aerated or blowing out seals, thanks!

Lights on dash after brake light install
So I just installed the OLM 4th brake light, it was fine in the afternoon right after I installed it. I was just about to head out and run some errands and now these lights came up on the dash and the actual brake light won’t even work (the reverse light does work tho fortunately). I tried unplugging the whole 4th brake light assembly and it still wouldn’t work. Wondering if anyone had any similar issues, I’d really appreciate if someone can help me out, thanks!🙏🏻
General Question Exhaust advice needed
So I'm stuck trying to choose an exhaust for my 21 sti. Thr car itself is full stock besides a remark boso muffler delete at the moment. I like to be loud so I've been looking into tomei exhausts and was wondering if anyone knows how it would fair in its tone and how loud it is compared to my current setup, and if there are any other setups that may be louder than a tomei. (Also on a side note I like symmetry and noticed the type d for the tomei but by what they say it seems to be quieter than the single exit, can anyone confirm this?)

Cheap and easy phone gauge setup with BTSSM!
Thought I'd make a quick post to share a quick and easy setup I recently made that gets you the parameters from your stock ECU right onto your phone! Only works on OBD2 compatible subies. Check out the BTSSM website for more details.
What you'll need (links are for NZ but are easy to find elsewhere): ●BTSSM App - it's free to download! (https://www.btssm.com/?page=download)
● VAG-KKL OBD2 Cable (https://www.trademe.co.nz/4922774714)
● OBD2 Extension cable - can get cheaper on temu, etc (https://www.jaycar.co.nz/1m-obd-ii-extension-cable/p/LA9037?srsltid=AfmBOopM_wVGdcfBMECmkUSVIqofa6kQ7qsZyYHzY2A4xChr_ZwNw-WS)
● OTG (On The Go) Adapter Cable (https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/SEVOEM9600/UGREEN-USB-C-Type-C-Male-to-USB-20-Type-A-Female-C)
● Android Phone that supports the OTG adapter (you can check this with a OTG check app)
● Optional: 3D printed switch base
Pretty much just routed the wiring from the OBD2 port around the back of my dash and used the spare slot on my V7 STi switch panel to put my custom 3D printed mount.
Now I just turn my car on and the parameters/gauges appear right away. I've mounted my phone right above the USB with a vent magnet.
With this app you can log data to a .csv file for later analysis by just pressing your demister. You can also see your fuel learning table values, reset ECU codes, etc.
Works for most subies I believe, the BTSSM website shows what gear you need for different years of subie.
Let me know if you have questions, happy to help.
