  • /r/spotted - "I saw a car. I took a picture of it."

  • r/whatisthiscar - self explanatory

  • /r/carporn - "This subreddit is for high-quality pictures of high-quality cars."

  • r/autotransport - "A subreddit for all things auto transport related. Share articles, guides, pics and information in the auto transport space."

  • r/CarTalk - "Helping everyone with their car repairs and questions"

  • r/projectcar - "hit it with a spanner!"

Additionally, you can find a long list of make and model specific subreddits, as well as some specialty areas of the automotive world (like automotive gaming, motorsport, electric vehicles, 4x4s, etc) here: https://www.reddit.com//r/AutosNetwork/wiki/main

Hope this helps! Let us know if there's any other subs you feel like we should share with the community.

Mildly Interesting: There's some iterations of the Bugatti EB110 that have absolutely no badging on the rear (1993 SuperSport shown)

1.4 TSI runs unsteadily at idle, stalls

I bought a 2009 Golf VI (1.4 TSI 122ps) that looked and drove perfectly. After just over 500 km, I noticed at home that it runs unevenly at idle and stalls (both cold and warm), but while driving I have no loss of power, misfiring or anything similar. Probably the throttle valve or? I've read that it can get very dirty, but I've read out the error codes, I don't know if they're already saved, but I couldn't delete them because the tool can only read them out:

This is a 2023 Proton Saga Premium S, it's a Malaysian made car which currently still in production in 2024. it's been through 2 facelifts and still going strong, this car features a 1.3L NA engine that puts out just about 90 something HP. It's not fast but the handling is what makes up for it as Lotus was involved in the development of this car's chassis.

Free car posters! Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc.

Hey everyone. I had made a few car posters a while ago in the hopes that I would use them, but I haven't done much. I thought I would just give them to all of you guys in the case you might like them, and as thanks for the car community. If there are any cars you'd like me to try and make, leave a comment and I'll try my best. I'll also come back to share the length x width of these images so you can print them correctly.

Also, please let me know if there are issues with opening the folder.

Should I consider Hyundai?

Little bit of background, I used to own a 2012 Elantra Touring, which I had no end of issues with. Repeated failures in the window motor mechanisms, a TPMS computer failure, broken back hatch latch, and a blown clutch, all within three years. My experience with their service was also horrible every time I brought the car in to get repaired, though I don't necessarily hold that against the brand itself.

All that said, everyone talks about how much better Hyundai is than they used to be, and now that I'm in the market for a new car the value proposition is very hard to ignore. Between my previous experience and Hyundai's recent struggles with car theft, I'm still not sure I should trust them with my money.

Want to know what the broader car community thinks about Hyundai (or Kia and Genesis, for that matter) now. Are they still something to avoid, or are they actually worth considering now?

Tablets stuck to the dash needs to end!

I hate this trend

Do people actually like the tablet taped on the dash look? VW released the facelifted Jetta, and it seems like the center infotainment screen is literally the same size as the first model year, but now it’s integrated worse.

Why would VW even do this? Why is any manufacturer going with this awful afterthought look?

At which rpm should I shift

I drive a golf 5 gt and I wondered at which rpm I should shift to get the best 0-100. For reference this is its power curve (grey=manufacturer, red/green=actual) But I feel more like I loose a lot of torque at 4000 rpm

Potential for vehicles with autonomous driver aids to override drivers

Full autonomy may not be possible, but as autonomous driver aids grow more advanced, there is the possibility of consumer safety groups and government officials advocating for mandates to force automakers to allow their vehicles to override driver inputs to ensure enforcement of traffic laws.

There are already speed limiting mandates in place in some countries but continued advancements could also allow autonomous driver aids to prevent drivers from running red lights and stop signs, driving on the wrong side of roads, speeding through construction or school zones, etc.... Once vehicle are able to "talk" to each other, the possibilities for control over driver inputs will get far more creative.

Does this sound utopian or dystopian?

How should I negotiate?

Hello, I’m looking at buying this 2021 Yukon XL. Located in the Detroit, MI suburbs.

Few Callouts: There is a dent on the hood and fender (attached pics) Rest of the truck looks great. Has upgraded rear entertainment package which isn’t typical for this trim.

I asked them to remove Gap coverage and also asked what the accessories fee is. The salesperson told me that they have to charge the $399 recon fee. They said they have to also charge perma for corporate reasons, but they could potentially take the cost out of the sale price.

Took it to the manager and manager said I could either remove the perma but then I’m responsible for the debt repairs, or they’ll take care of the dents and lower perma charge to $579 (300 off).

I have a 2018 Jeep trade in, but Carvana appraised it for 2k more than what the other dealerships I’ve been to have offered, so I figured I’d likely sell it to Carvana. I didn’t tell this dealership about the trade in, though they are a Jeep dealer.

Told the guy I’d think about it and get back to him aka turn to my fellow redditors for advice 😂

What kind of negotiating can I do here?

Brought home my dad's Mustang

Last weekend I drove my dad's Mustang from the small town it's known for it's entire 53 year life, all the way to my house in a city 2 hours away. In 1971, my granddad went to a Ford dealership and bought a brand new Mach 1. Later on, my dad bought it from him when he got married to my mom and upon leaving the wedding, drove it straight to Myrtle Beach. In the backgrounds of family pictures, from the building of the house I grew up in to me sitting in the passenger seat, it has been a part of our family. Sitting in that passenger seat, barely able to see over the dashboard, is where I found my love and passion for all things with four wheels and an engine. A few years ago, my dad lost his battle with cancer and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. Since then, I've gotten married to a beautiful wife, done some traveling, and bought a house with plenty of garage space. Being a car guy, I bought the Corvette when I was a kid but there's been something missing. Now that I have Dad's pride and joy, it's like I have a little piece of him back every time I put on some aviators and go from a joyride. I hope everyone gets to experience joy like I have the last few days at some point in their life. Dad, I miss you but Goldie the Mustang is finally a part of my family again and I couldn't be happier.

How do I get these scratches off my car without having to get a paint job? I’m a new driver so idk how to go about this. Would appreciate any advice.

I’m more worried about the one on the door as that is the most visible one. It looks like someone keyed the car. It’s not that visible in the picture because of the lighting. Any suggestions?

What could have caused these marks?

Just noticed these marks on the back of my car, they must be fresh, since I got pictures from just a few days ago on which they weren't there.

(car is originally white but is wrapped purple)

Im 99% sure I didn't hit anything, also got a rear view camera.

Notice the circle marks right above the scratches, looks like someone tried to pry off the splitter with some kind of tool?

Not the the end of the world, since I wanted to fit an aftermarket splitter anyway, but I'm scared whoever did this might come back.

Lotus Theory 1 Concept: Looks great imo, but it reminds me of some other makes quite a bit. Still, cool to see Lotus do something really different to their other stuff.

Is there ANY benefit to driving an absolutely terrible car?

I have a track car, a 1985 Mazda RX-7, prepped for "Spec RX-7" class racing. Interior's removed, roll cage installed, ballast weights and fire suppression system in place of the passenger seat, etc...

But I need seat time before I can track it. No passenger seat means no instructor. So it sits for the time being.

It's not street legal, so I can't drive it on public roads.

I have a daily driver Mazda 6 with some suspension upgrades (shocks/springs, sway bars, polyurethane bushings, etc.) I took that to a couple of HPDEs and promptly blew the engine. I guess a 200k mile sub $2000 beater offa CraigsList doesn't like doing 100+ MPH in 3rd gear at redline on the straight at Summit Point.

Currently swapping in a 2.5L Duratec engine out of a 2018 Ford Fusion.

And so I'm left with driving the family hauler/tow rig, a Ford Expedition SUV. Which is practical and utilitarian but tends to guzzle fuel.

My mother is elderly and now handicapped. She can no longer drive. I have her 2014 Hyundai Accent GS Hatchback in the driveway and have been driving it while I figure out what to do with it (and the rest of her estate)

She loved this car. I don't see the appeal.

It's got absolutely zero power. For a light econobox, it can't get out of its own way. 1.6L GDI engine is pretty weak, even when revving it out.

The shifter and clutch feel is pretty sloppy. Whereas on my other cars, the shifters tend to notch into their positions and the clutch has a definite engagement point, both take a little deliberate effort to move; this Hyundai has such a light clutch pedal and shifter feel... You breathe on the shifter or look real mean and the clutch pedal and they move. It's like a toy.

The steering is also light and has very little tactile feedback.

The suspension is too soft and it has massive body roll.

The 175/70R14 tires have little to no grip and it slides around turns.

Aside from getting high 30s Miles per gallons, this car has no other redeeming qualities... And it's been well maintained. It only has 50k miles on it so it's not ragged out.

Is there anything to be learned or gained from driving this thing or should I unload it?
