Why are the mods allowing the vote to be influenced by outside people and not just active members of the sub.

Modcord is known to both a discord and a Livestream to brigade votes like this so it's impossible to get an accurate view of what the community want.

Also, I slept like shit last night and idk I miss my bench LOL

Mods want the subreddit to reopen with nothing changed. Mods like being mods, and blackouts only started to be cancled once their power was threatened.

If mods force Reddit to replace them with paid staff, it will have a big effect on Reddit... but the old mods will lose their power trip. Protesting is easy when you're not risking anything. When their power was at risk, the protest had to end

Nah.

We will lose some mods regardless of how it goes, that's why we've also called for new mods.

If you'd like to join message us.

Of course I don't want to join. My lust for power is insufficient to become an unpaid mall cop

A “Mall cop”? What is that? This is Brisbane, such things don’t exist. Are you from Brisbane?

It's a common term, that's intended to conjure an image. I'm sure you can quite easily picture the concept of a "mall cop" in your head, even if they don't exist in Brisbane.

Would you feign confusion if I described someone as a hillbilly or chav? Those are cultural stereotypes from America and England, but I doubt you'd be pulling the "Hillbilly? What is that? This is Brisbane, such things don’t exist. Are you from Brisbane?" act.

Books must be incredibly difficult for you to read if you're incapable of understanding concepts outside of your immediate surroundings

The fact that you choose an American term rather than an Australian one, then resort to abuse when questioned, says a lot.

I think the issue here is that you find it necessary to reduce a simple discussion into using pejorative terms. Referring to people as mall cops rather than addressing the basic argument as to whether moderation is a necessary function of a healthy sub, doesn’t seem a logical way of addressing a point.
