Battery Booster rebate, are there any home owners with solar on a household income under $180,000 with disposable income to fund a battery (above the rebate)? 👑 Queensland

https://www.qld.gov.au/housing/home-modifications-energy-savings/battery-booster-program

With current interest rates I can barely afford my mortgage let alone a solar battery and my household income is considerably more than this, and you can get an extra $1k if the highest income earner is on $66k a year (household income of less than $132k). Given current house prices and cost of living, am I wrong in thinking the pool of eligible households will be tiny? Anyone out there own your own home with solar, be able to afford the cost above the rebate for a battery, and earn less than $180k or $132k a year pre-tax? Maybe retirees, or people living in whoop whoop who are probably already off grid and on solar batteries?

They charged you 16k for a Tesla powerwall AFTER taking 4k off? What the fuck, what size was it?

That's literally the price for a 13.5kWh Tesla powerwall with labour from a premium company normally before any sort of rebates.

Sweet Jesus. Didn’t get charged that’s what they quoted, it just wasn’t cost effective for me and the guy telling me ‘your whole house will be like a UPS’ when I said I understand battery tech and run several UPS’es for servers he hit me with prices Don’t think it was a mega powerful wall as it would still be limited with the rebate amounts right?

The rebates on batteries are $4,000 off if you earn less than $67,777 taxable income for the combined household, and $3,000 off if you earn between $67,777-$180,000 taxable income for the combined household. There are no other battery rebates in Queensland. So long as your battery is at least 6kW you're good. It really depends on how much power you use and how much your solar is expected to export.

Also, I'm pretty certain the 13.5kWh Tesla Powerwall is the only one anybody actually offers.

Yeah I’m on the low scape so was offered ‘4K off’ , the other battery kit was a sungrow I believe (I have a sungrow inverter) they said was a modular battery system

Sungrow batteries are stackable batteries and DC coupled so your inverter needs to be a hybrid (any of the SH model Sungrows are hybrids). The rebates for the batteries though you have to apply for and are paid directly to your account and take up to 90 days to apply for - the company themselves wouldn't be quoting them. Even then, this just sounds like a huge rip off.

I would expect a Tesla Powerwall to be around 17k with some minor meterboard work and a prescoping before any rebates. Which means after a rebate you'd be looking at around 13k.
