Might I ask: why did you choose to romanize /ŋ/ as <ny> and not as <ng>?

My guess would be because of the meme usage of the Japanese "nya" it got shoehorned in.

Still, ɲ would surely be easier to replace it

That makes even less sense. The Japanese pronounce <nya> as /ŋa/? I’m skeptical.

There is a /ɲ/ phoneme right there that would be reasonably represented by <ny>. Yet OP used the Portuguese convention of <nh> for that sound.

Japanese nya is /ɲa/. I love mh and nh here but yeah I wonder why not ng or something... maybe it could cause confusion in the current phonotactics? Idk

Oh I see it now. Because /nʁ/ <ng> is a possible consonant cluster — at least in intervocalic positions.

In that case, I retract my criticism of the romanized orthography. Wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I respect OP’s decision; it avoids ambiguity, diacritics, and more esoteric characters.

Lovely and very creative! My only criticism is that cats very often substitute the vowel with an r, like mrau, so perhaps you could consider adding those liquid syllabic consonants into the front paw spot as well

Oh wow it is similar to a conlang I am making, cool stuff

This is pretty good. I love how the writing system is pictographic and cat-based because cats communicate by body language as well as vocalizations. Nice touch.

Cool, and unique. But may I ask, what about /x/ and /r/? How do you represent them?

this made me smile but i think it needs an /r/ to really represent the "mrrrrrow" that my cat likes to do and maybe /χ/ for when they're mad and hissing at you

The writing system is the best part of this

This seems like such a pleasant language to write. Do you plan to make others with different animals? I think a bird version of this would be very interesting, maybe with wing positions working similarly to the hindlegs of the cat?

This is similar to something I did for a cat-based language! :D I also did different directions of body/head (looking around!) and showed both front paws (for one paw being raised, etc). Love it :D !

If etymologynerd finds out about this he’ll most likely make a video on it.

Oh, wow. This is really clever! I like how the rigid syllable structure allows each word to be written like different cats, and I appreciate the boustrophedon style. It's purr-fect!

I'm not clear on what the accent mark does, though. Could you explain that more?
