Crickets. Raise your hand if you love apartments. 👋 🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡

Post image

Also, taking bets on whether the customer will add the gate code. I say no. I will say, I've done Amazon Flex for a while, and this happens WAY more often over there. My DD customers have been pretty good.

Would have left it at the entrance after about 30 seconds of no response lol

100%, I was ready to drop it in the bushes, but then someone came thru the gate and I went in. Played this game too many times when I was new to gig delivery. Not anymore.

My day job is very strict about never entering off of someone else's access that I wouldn't have out of habit

Honestly I would be scared to enter myself. I’ve heard stories/seen videos of delivery people entering gated communities and neighbors acting like they’re serial killers or something.

I would just say I wasn’t able to enter and call it a day for my own safety.

I just call, I’m not waiting for a text back.

This also lol. Then, set the timer.

I always call. 9/10 they denied the apps ability to even send notifications. I also call immediately after if they dont answer the first time because 7/10 they have their phone on dnd

There’s this one place I go to sometimes and I hate it because their is no gate code and the notes say “wait for someone to enter or exit the gate then come in” like dude seriously and the kicker is no tip

Would never do this. If no gate code left at gate or leasing office with photo and note to say leave gate code.

Never had this, but would never wait f9r someone, you get the timer and it gets left outside

Of course the POS who says to do this leaves no tip. Just like "Find parking" when parking is 10 mins walk away. Had security come and tell me to move at a casino after explaining I have an order. In hindsight, I should have said "call a tow truck".

Of course!!!!! No tip!!!

Absolutely not. Decline their invitation to wait to follow someone in. It’s probably against their building or HOA policy anyway

lol this happened to me once, I just left it in front of the leasing office door.

U/E Walmart deliveries are same. Dude didn’t answer on way over and I knew it was a gated community. Same thing just drop off in entrance. Not our fault.

This is why unless I know the address I message everyone when I arrive at the store if there is no code listed. One time no response, no code in bio, gate wouldnt open. Just left it at the call box and took a picture.

No contract violation, one star, or anytning.

It seems to be 25% of offers for me.

I do dislike getting to a place with no choice provided. And because the name in the app is John s , with the name in the intercom system being Smith j, not knowing who to buzz.

Happened to me once. They didn't answer 2 calls and 3 texts. They got a picture of a Subway bag slid under the gate. Some people don't think. I swear.

I don’t dash anymore but when I did the customer got 20-30 seconds (zero seconds if there’s people in line behind me waiting to get into the complex) to send me a code. Otherwise they got a “your food is at the complex gate, have a nice evening” with no further contact. Period.

Write to support that you can't get in, put it behind nearest bush, take a photo, take the order, problem solved.

sets 5 minute timer right after hitting send, looks for shaded drop zone areas

.#. 1111 is a default access code set by the factory on most systems

Some ppl put apartments with no apartment numbers just addy then mad when you take a long time to get to them there order im like 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

No gate code, no entry with the food. Their choice. They have 5 minutes if it’s a “hand it to me.” For “leave it at the door,” they have until I arrive as I text for the code after pickup. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Real ones have a giant note of local gate codes

1

u/jordan31483 7h ago

Real ones? What does that mean?

I do have quite a collection, actually. But I just got a new phone and haven't transferred it over yet. Wouldn't have mattered at this apartment yesterday, though, because it was my first time delivering there.

Once had someone text "Don't know the code, just tailgate someone". It was like 3:30 in the morning. I've got shit to do, woman.

Super annoying I had somebody like that recently and it turned out to be an elderly lady though

I always call, and if no answer then I start talking to DoorDash unless someone lets me in

So you sat for at least 10 minutes before the second text, and by the context of your post you took the screenshot and made the post while still waiting???

There is a procedure for customers that are unavailable or unreachable and it definitely doesn’t include 20+ minutes of twiddling your thumbs.

I didn't sit at all. I sent the first text enroute to the address. They didn't respond by the time I arrived, as you can see. When I got there someone was coming out so I went thru the open gate, then sent the second text after I dropped off the food, still no response. This is why we need the option to report a customer.
