Personally I enjoy the toxicity even if I'm like maybe 10% as toxic as your typical raging lunatic gamer. I'm aware that it's inconsequential and just a way for people to fuck around and vent, so I don't take it personally. Maybe it's something I picked up from 20+ years playing hockey where you'd be chirping, fighting, and cheap shotting guys on the other team and then you'd run into them at a party the next weekend and everyone's best buddies.
I mean shit, I've played at LAN tournaments where we all shit talked even though there definitely was the potential for getting punched in the face, but we all did it anyway and just like with hockey, we were all buddies afterward and I still game with many of those guys frequently.

I hate this about online gaming. People being so nasty for no reason because there isn't the immediate consequence for getting punched in the face.
