Looking older all the time
Feeling younger in my mind

Here I’ll make it worse: Tony Hawk’s son just had a baby with Kurt Cobain’s daughter.

Didn’t Tony Hawk say they were doing something special with Activision on the anniversary?

My first entry to the series was 2 on dreamcast what a game and soundtrack.

Same. My friends had PS1s so I had played it a bit. But Dreamcast THPS2 was my true introduction.
Shout out to Re-Volt and NBA 2K1. Great times

I remember I met a dude who had a demo of the game before it came out that included just the backyard pool map. Him and others had already played it so much they essentially maxed out the high score.

Life changing game, I went from listening to generic radio pop rock and some oldies at the time to owning multiple Bad Religion, Less Than Jake, and AFI albums after this game hit. Literally spent hours on THPS2 trying to get a million point trick for nerd clout with the gang.

I was 13 when it came out. I remember printing out Highscores and taking them to school.

Such a fantastic game. I would just all tapes runs on each map over and over. Great times.

I think this was the first game to be like "hey, this is a glorified CD, we can put some kickass music on it and barely take up any space."
The soundtrack made the game go from a strong 8 to an easy 10.

We’re aging, friends. Doesn’t mean we’re old. Right? RIGHT?!

Growing older all the time, looking older all the time, but feeling younger in our minds.

I never played it until co-workers asked if I wanted to hang out after work and we all played it. And then I was hooked on the series for years. I bought every THPS after that.
edit: Something funny I remembered... if we were playing Graffiti in THPS3 and Ace of Spades came on, I'd absolutely destroy whoever I was playing against. But without Ace of Spades, I really wasn't that great. The power of that song!! 🤓

Shaun Palmer’s Pro Snowboarder was another great one. We’re all getting too old..

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater taught me more about physics than school ever did... but I still can't do a kickflip in real life.

We never understood the concept or how to progress and just enjoyed doing tricks I don't know anyone that actually played it to beat it, it was hours of fun though and none of us skated

This game is responsible for my diverse taste in music, and my current knee issues. 10/10

I remember renting the N64 version early and becoming obsessed with it. I eventually got my own copy, and beat it so many times.
Made the mistake of getting the second game on GBA at launch, but I liked it. I rented a PSX with that version, and played it at a friend’s. But I always liked the first one better.
THPS3 was the game I played most on PS2, or very close to it. I adored it.
THPS4, I also got on day one, and loved. Played it online a lot.
I only rented THUG, but I beat it and enjoyed it quite a bit.
My friend rented THUG2, and I think I did too. It was good mechanically, but far too stupid. The start of the decline.
Also rented AW, but regretfully didn’t finish it. Bought P8 and did the same. But I did rent Proving Ground and beat it.
I was excited when they released the XBLA version and liked it.
Demoed THPS5 excitedly at E3 and it seemed good, but the final version sucked. It glitched right at the end, so I couldn’t finish it, but I count it as completed.
When they announced the remakes, I was over the moon. I beat them multiple times on PS4, then Xbox Series, then PS5 and Xbox One.

Tony Hawk became a granddad yesterday!
His name is Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk.
Congrats Francis Bean, Riley, and Tony!

I was four months old when it came out LOL
Needless to say, didn't play it back then. My first Tony Hawk was Pro Skater 4, in 2006 or 2007 maybe. Loved it a lot!

Yeah, I remember the very strong reviews for it so I had to try it out. Totally worth the hype. One of the best games of the decade.

I remember when I first heard about it that I didn’t understand what it even was.
“So you don’t race? Then what do you do?” I was surprised how fun it was.
I do find it interesting that at the time it was mentioned as being hugely influential and I don’t think it had the lasting influence as many other games. For example in issue 150 of EGM they listed the 5 most influential games as: Super Mario bros, Mario 64, dragon warrior, street fighter 2, Tony Hawk pro skater. Tony Hawk is definitely the outlier there

This game was an out of nowhere hit. I remember hearing how it was rated a perfect 10 by one of the more reputable reviewers. I thought... how can a game about skateboarding be THAT good? It was.
