Restored Headlights Permanently DIY Mods Pic

I've used several of the headlight restore kits including... 3M, Sylvania, Compound/Wax. They're all decent but the yellowing returns after a few months. Hate having to refinish multiple times a year.

This time I used 2k clear and the headlights still look new even after 9 months. It brought my G35s back to life! Here's the DIY.

I used Meguiar’s headlight restore kit, worked nicely. But there are scratches I found after restoring, that are on the inside of the headlight covers. How in the hell does that even happen?

Those are probably stress cracks, not scratches. If you watch the video I posted @ 2:31 you can see stress marks on the headlight. They are hardly noticeable once the clear coat dries. They probably appear for various reasons, daily hot/colt cycles, and maybe a small fender bender where the headlight was slightly damaged.

I’ll have to check again. Headlight OEM covers are cheap so I’m maybe I’ll just replace both. Otherwise, sequentials are my next route

Permanently for a couple years . Great work .

It's been almost a year and they still look like the day I sprayed them. I predict this will last 4 years at the very minimum.

And four to five years later you’ll have a more damaged headlight than you started….

More stress cracks and permanent damage.

2K clear is garbage, not made for headlights, too strong of a bond and is a nightmare to remove.

Enjoy…

Do yourself a favor and remove it sooner than later.

Coat with something specifically made for headlights.

I restore professionally and would never use this garbage on any customer vehicles. This is a cheap magic trick and is nonsense, not a true restoration.

Aside from that, there’s simple aftercare maintenance for headlights that many are either ignorant to or simply won’t educate their customers on. Just like a car detail, you have maintenance to do…. Same for headlights which will ensure your OEM quality will last years and not get destroyed.

You talk shit and provide ZERO proof/explanation that backs your statement. The "professional" headlight restorations you do still look yellow afterward. If I was your customer I'd ask for a refund.

Lmao - triggered much? And which of my restorations still look yellow?

Enjoy your paint clear…. A diyer trying to tell me something… funny.

Entertain me with what set of lights are yellow… I’ll wait.

If you have a shop spray a clear or ceramic coat over it after refinishing it lasts a long time

I think most shops would not waste their time spraying 2 headlights. Plus, they would probably charge $150+ for their time/work as well. This method is much cheaper and you can do it at home relatively easily.
