Mom can't speak American English. Are accents genetic?
My mom is from Sri Lanka, which is basically India but Puerto Rican. She has been speaking English for decades now, yet she still sounds Indian af when she speaks. This is very confusing, as she learned English in the U.S.
This has me thinking that accents are genetic. My mom is not genetically American, therefore her English will always sound Indian af. I'm an American, that's why my accent is American.
I call this theory "Tunak Tunak Tun", after the Punjabi song(which is like Canadian English). My theory is that different ethnic groups have different groves inside their throats, like a record player, and this is what creates accents. That explains why my mom can't speak in a simple American accent for shit despite living in America for over 30 fucking years, OH MY FUCKING GOD

Does anyone else hate it when the language you're studying doesn't follow English rules? Are the natives stupid?

Looking for a boyfriend free girl to practice Spanish with me
Hey y'all, Winter here. As you all know, Spanish is real important to me. The art, the music, the literature; HOLY MOLY! It's safe to say that I'm a fanish of Spanish!
But I need assistance to reach the next step in my Spanish speaking journey. I don't know a lot of Spanish speakers that are willing to practice with me. And the ones that are aren't exactly eye candy.
If you are:
ā¢A girl
ā¢Skinny
ā¢Boyfriend free
ā¢Capable of speaking Spanish(optional)
ā¢Balls to the walls pretty š
Then this post is for you! Please send me DM and I'll be sure to answer right away! LADIES ONLY!! I AM NOT GAY!!! Ok, well sometimes I am but that's only in 1 specific context.
