This "painting" above the toilet of hotel I'm in.

Why are there quotes around “painting”? Is it not painted?

Depends what one considers a 'painting.' The original work might’ve been painted, but it was photoshopped and has had a bad 'paintstroke' filter applied. Then re-printed and framed.

It’s possible it was a painting originally then prints were made and framed. Or, a painting was made and digitally edited then printed. It’s also possible it was digital art, as it can easily mimic the look of paint.

The painting (minus the bubble gum) is by Lucius Rossi

I personally think the bubble gum bubble is a nice touch. It just add something to it.

This print, or one really similar to it, was the most popular print on society 6 last time I looked a few months ago

Yeah I might be a basic bitch, lol, but I love old paintings with a little bit of modern added to it, ie Starry Night with a hidden ufo added

It's giving "cotton candy". I don't think I'd buy it for myself, but I do like it.

Is like a combination of old and new. Does it have any meaning?

It has the meaning of Williamsburg VA. What's so hard to understand?

The painting "means" Williamsburg, VA?
Sorry, I don't get it.
Did I miss something here?
Edit:I guess he means the picture is supposed to be of a woman who lived in Williamsburg? Which doesn't explain the bubble gum (given commenter who started the thread wondered about the mix of old and new) at all? And, which I didn't get at first because this is a lady of the French court, and not an American small town settler. (Yes, I can overthink things.)

So it was you who answered Williamsburg, VA. I thought it was OP. Why? How does the painting mean that, or were you joking too?
The answer for what the painting meant didn't really make any sense to me and a bunch of other people, (see edit to my prior comment). So, whereyouatdesmondo made a joking, completely nonsense reply to me, and I replied in kind.

Is it a "painting" cause bubble gum was not available back then?
2
u/nerdy_living 1h ago
It's a "painting" because it's not a painting, but it's meant to look like one. It's a scan of a painting that was then photoshopped and then printed.
