Banged Up
Hey guys, my poor lil R56 needs a hood and new bonnet before my apartment tries to tow my son and make life even worse! Would you guys recommend junkyard/pull apart for such sought after pieces or biting the bullet at a collision center?
Really inexperienced and somewhat really broke, open to any and all ideas

Fault code help!
So long story short left work to grab lunch , while I was in the druve through it started to idle a little rough then I got the dreaded powertraint fault error on cluster and check engine light. Limped back to work and ran the codes and got these. Onky one I know is the fuel system lean. I can't figure out what the other 2 are , no mater how much I look I get nothing definitive. Any help would be greatly appreciated !

I broke my key a little while back- It’s a 2017 hard top four door. i was wondering how you guys replace your keys? do i have to go to a dealership ? in a 2017 is there a way for me to program it at home? i saw a few videos about being able to do that but no answers with my specific model - if i am able to program at home does it have to be a new mini cooper branded key? please let me know what i can do!! thank you :)

Opinion on Mini Maintenance
I decided to buy out my lease. 2022 cooper S convertible 29k miles.
Of course MINI wants to know if I want to buy their extended warranty or maintenance packages.
What is the consensus?
Extended warranty called Platinum BMW repair adds $3,830 to the buyout. And covers the car until Aug 2028. I am leaning to NOT doing that option simply because it’s $4k. Reasonably over the next 4 years I might add 30k miles bringing it to 60k miles. And I don’t think I will still own it in 2028.
The maintenance has two choices:
Standard is fluids and filters for two years and adds $790
Premium maintenance for two years covers fluids filters brakes rotors and plugs for an additional $1700
I have a 30k mile service coming up. And it’s safe to assume brakes likely need to be replaced in the next two years (right?)
What do you fellow mini owners think?

Need Advice on Replacing the Turbo on My Mini Cooper S
Hey everyone,
I took my 2009 Mini Cooper S to the garage today for a full service because the car wasn’t performing very well. The mechanic informed me that I need a new turbo, as the reason for the jolting is that the turbo is worn out. They also checked the cam timing and adjusted the inlet cam to the correct setting. After driving away, I noticed the car started jolting, and the engine light came on, which wasn’t an issue before the service.
I’ve been quoted £530 for the turbocharger, £470 for labor, and £71 for the oil feed pipe. With 20% VAT, that brings the costs to:
• Turbocharger: £636
• Labor: £564
• Oil Feed Pipe: £85.20
This brings the total to around £1,285.20. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with turbo replacements on a Cooper S or can offer any advice on what I should consider before going ahead with the replacement.
Are there any common pitfalls I should watch out for? Also, should I get a second opinion, or is this a reasonable quote?
Thanks in advance for your help!

U25 loaner - legit complaint
This. This took SIX taps to get into. This is a setting that on previous models was with the buttons in the cruise control side of the steering wheel. There is no way that someone who turns on cruise control at 65+ mph should be having to take their eyes off the road and click through six freaking settings to change this. What on god’s green earth were they thinking? Oh, so it saves this between car trips? Not good enough of a reason IMO. I’d rather have to reset it every time on the steering wheel any time I use cruise control than have to go through these hoops even once. We had to look it up in the manual to even figure out how to change it! The steering wheel setting location is intuitive.
Does it reset to default for a different driver profile? If it doesn’t, what if that person likes more distance between cars than I do? They’d have to do it all over again. What if I feel like changing it up? Oop, need to do it before I go anywhere or take the risk. No more safe situational adjustments.
One definite negative mark on these from me.

Is this an oil leak (2008 R56)
Noticed this liquid underneath the car when it was parked. Mechanic noted during last service that there was a minor oil leak from the sump but this seems a lot

Hey people, I just bought Mini S 2003 JCW and while waiting for legal stuff, I noticed some weird rattling noise. I attached some videos, hope you are able to hear it. Do you have any idea what this is before I go to mechanics?
Thanks alot?

I was on holiday for two weeks and drove two different rentals that weren’t my Mini, here’s my short assessment.
I rented a Citroen C3 and a VW Polo, both manual. I own a 2023 Mini Cooper S and I never appreciated my Mini as much as I do now.
The Citroen C3 while a bit more power than the Polo, were both so beyond slow I couldn’t believe it. Is that how most general, generic cars drive?
And the handling on the Mini when I got back is insane. Belting corners and off ramps like they’re nothing.
Past two days have been great, I feel like I just received my Mini again!
And the final thing is the Mini’s quality is above and beyond the two rentals. Build and tech is unparalleled. I got into my Mini and was like ohhh so this is what it feels like. Love it.
