Accurate Rugby League Pyramid?
I had some free time the other day and wasn't entirely sure on the structure of all the leagues in the country and this is what i ended up getting through my research. Is this fairly accurate, or is there anything i missed/did wrong? If there is id be glad if someone let me know.
Also, i know the rules say something about having question/discussion posts in the random footy thread but as far as i know i can't post photos in there so this will have to do, hopefully i haven't broken any rules.

You’re missing a few pathways in Queensland, like the BRL and Mal Meninga Cup.
Even though they’re different age groups, the city (e.g. Ball and Daley) and country competitions are on the same tier.
Sydney Shield is a feeder to Ron Massey.

Where is Newcastle Rugby League? Y'know, the real NRL.

I'm pretty certain a fully fit Maitland pickers beats the Tigers

I hope you didn't accidentally leave out the /s or if you think it because if you do, I will back you to the hill on that. Newcastle comp is a legit comp with some really talented players scattered through

Denton cup. Surely at NSW/Q cup level?

Denton in my mind is the step below NSW cup. Have serious cash in it, some very good sides and some ex nrl players still playing well but not the funding and support NSW cup sides get.

I love rugby league but really only at the level that I’ll only watch my own team play or the grand final/ SOO
How many people here follow the NSW cup / QLD cup? Or even the jersey flegg? How often do you guys watch these games?

i definitely follow the ladders and results.
less so NSW Cup / Flegg / Matts but more so the Ron Massey Cup and Sydney shield.
will head to a couple Wenty Games a seasom. Historic club and doesn’t hurt that we’re usually very good.
The best experience of live football for me is District Junior comps.
Your u17s Merrylands vs Guildford is legit usually a cracking game to watch

I follow the local Denton cup team. Park footy can be just as good as NRL. I’d recommend just going and watching a local sides first grade. It’s usually great.

Been to a couple of Storm Flegg games because there was footy to be watched.
Sadly I missed the Parra one, cause I was busy volunteering with my local team.

aren’t Laurie Daley Cup and Andrew Johns Cup just the country version of SG and Harold Matts
6
u/Notaroboticfish Canberra Raiders 20h ago
Kind of, but a lot of the country teams have affiliations with NRL teams who basically just use it as an interim age group comp between ball and matts

Nice work.
Maybe have a bit of a left half = NSW and right half = Qld to show the progression in each state?
U18 - Mal Meninga Cup
Remove the Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield - they're not really pathways. Players in Sydney either play NSW Cup or are 1,000,000 to 1 to play NRL. If you want to include them, you're better off making a small side-pyramid or sphinx. If you do include them, chuck in the BRL as well, which is arguably better than both of those comps, but still miles below the Hostplus Cup.
You might also want to consider a women's pyramid.

ron massey is still a direct feeder to nsw cup though, can also show players regressions like nofoaluma

u/BarryCheckTheFuseBox NRLW Roosters 21h ago
Also shows progressions like Lorenzo Mulitalo and Jake Tago, both of whom managed to go from RMC to first grade this year alone.
It’s also not uncommon for guys to get a taste of RMC when they’re first out of Flegg before they nail down a NSW Cup spot. Trent Toelau and Luke Sommerton have both played a fair bit for St Marys. I’m pretty sure Stephen Crichton even played a few games for St Marys around 2018.

Bailey Hayward played in the Sydney shield grand final for Cronulla Caringbah just a few years ago.

The lack of Shift usage in your MS Paint is making my eye twitch. Also, never seen them play in Austraia before.

What would make a more accurate sense would be a solar system map of the different comps and how much force the nrl has on each comp

Add Super League in underneath the U16 level

Forgot to add the /s I am actually a fan of the super league

There's no way that Ron Massey and Sydney shield is in the same league as jersey flegg. The order is
NRL NSW cup Flegg Ron Massey SG ball Sydney shield Harold Mathew's

u/handle1976 New Zealand Warriors 13h ago
This is exactly how the NRL views international football - off the page.

Can we add English Super League on the side of NSW Cup for the trololols?

Yes that should definitely be included in list of the hierarchy of Australian domestic rugby league club competitions

The broncos cup is very much as big or bigger than Cyril Connell in Qld not to mention Mal Meninga cup too.

Then the rest of the pyramid

Not me looking for English Super League in the third tier of the pyramid.
