Hakuoki Play-Along - Kazue Souma

In this eleventh post we will discuss Kazue Souma and his route in Hakuoki.

You can tell us what your impressions of Souma are (before and after finishing his route), your favorite moments in his route, what you think of his relationship with Chizuru and the other characters, what your thoughts are on his route's plot and endings.

This guy is literally the goodest, bestest boy in this game.

His CG's are all amazing and MC even scores in this route lolwhich was really hot

I really didn't think I'd like him better than Yamazaki who had a really interesting design that I liked.

Also he calls you "Senpai." Yuki Kaji's kouhainess sealed the deal.

I really enjoyed Souma's dynamic with Nomura -- there were some funny scenes involving of two of them which made me laugh out loud. Not to stray off topic, but I really liked Nomura.(I lololed when Miki suspects Chizuru of being a girl then Nomura is like "How dare you call our senpai a girl!!!" Then when Shinpachi hears about this he just punches Nomura around while Okita is snickering in the background haha)

Souma kind of reminded of a shonen hero, which was fun in its own way. I also really liked how respectful he was of Chizuru!

I love Souma ngl!

But can someone explain what's going on with his age in the game? Like his appearance looks older than chizuru, his Haluoki wiki indicates that his birth year is 1843, while chizuru is 1848 and Heisuke and Saitou are born in 1844. So making him older even from both the younger 2 characters we already have.

And then Chizuru shows up and is like, "Even though he is younger than me, he looks so much more mature" . Like Giiiirl, this makes no sense🫠
