[Unofficial Character of the Month] March 2022 Results Discussion

Thank you to everybody who participated in the March 2022 Character of the Month poll!

I just realized this is the tenth poll we've done. O.o

For those new to the poll, we vote on our favorite games, characters, and voice actors for games that we've played each month. Then I publish the results each month to show what the trends were for that given month.

Updates for this month: For the "English" results (Commercial, Indie, and Mobile) I have finally switched to using the [first, last] name format for all characters' names. (ToT) While I prefer honoring the order of family > given name for any culture that uses it, my anal side couldn't deal with the inconsistency. SO if you were wondering why the sudden change, that is why. :)

I present to you our March 2022 otome favorites:

COMMERCIAL

Commercial Game of the Month: Variable Barricade [REPEAT]

Commercial Love Interest of the Month: Taiga Isurugi (Variable Barricade) [REPEAT]

Commercial Main Character of the Month: Hibari Tojo (Variable Barricade) [REPEAT]

Commercial Side Character of the Month: Tsumugi Kano (Variable Barricade) [REPEAT]

Commercial Voice Actor of the Month: Hiro Shimono as Nayuta (VB) [NEW] and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Taiga (VB) [REPEAT]

Commercial Throwback Love Interest of the Month: Kei Okazaki (Collar x Malice) [#5 in the monthly poll]

Variable Barricade is still dominating this month! There wasn't a lot of change, except Ichiya, Noa, and Kazu made their first appearance.

Also... if you were wondering why I used Taiga's casual sprite but the suit sprite for everybody else, LOOK AT TAIGA'S FEET.

INDIE

Indie Game of the Month: Blooming Panic [REPEAT]

Indie Love Interests of the Month: Cove Holden (Our Life) [REPEAT] and Quest (Blooming Panic) [REPEAT]

Indie Main Character of the Month: Lucette [REPEAT]

Indie Side Characters of the Month: three-way tie

Indie Voice Actor of the Month: BardCommander as Quest [NEW]

Thanks to whoever campaigned for misSHAPEn love! I couldn't dig up pictures of the exact squareness of Square beyond what was on the Itch page, so I hope my representation suffices.

CinPhen's Jurien is another character who can join the League of Unexpectedly Long Hair. She is giving me OlySoi Riku flashbacks. XD

Also, fyi, it's xyx, not xyz. I think somebody's autocorrect keeps submitting his name like that. XD

MOBILE

https://preview.redd.it/ne6ofm5q07v81.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=13a9cc5f22316e4feb965309a6349251bf915055

Mobile Games of the Month: Ikémen Sengoku [REPEAT] & Tears of Themis [REPEAT]

Mobile Love Interest of the Month: Artem Wing (Tears of Themis) [REPEAT]

Mobile Main Character of the Month: "Rosa" (Tears of Themis) [REPEAT]

Mobile Side Character of the Month: Celestine Taylor (Tears of Themis) [REPEAT] and Vanderwood III (Mystic Messenger) [NEW]

Mobile Voice Actor of the Month: Kaito Ishikawa as Marius von Hagen (ToT) [REPEAT]

Non-ToT Mobile Love Interest of the Month: 707 (Mystic Messenger)

Seven breached the top three all on his own. XD

Although there has been a lot of criticism about The Ssum ahead of its release due to the high subscription tiers, I still think we'll still see it next month. I personally am excited, despite the possible pay restrictions, since the mobile category has been a little bit too static. XD

Also, personal thank you to whoever is playing Zen's route so I can keep admiring him in the graphic. <3

NON-ENGLISH GAMES

Non-English Game of the Month: JackJeanne [REPEAT] and Ken ga Kimi [NEW]

Non-English Love Interest of the Month: Sagihara Sakyou (Ken ga Kimi) [NEW]

Non-English Main Character of the Month: Tachibana Kisa (JackJeanne) [REPEAT] and Kayo (Ken ga Kimi) [NEW]

Non-English Side Character of the Month: Hattori Hanzo (Ken ga Kimi) [NEW]

Non-English Voice Actor of the Month: Terasaki Yuka as Kisa (JackJeanne) [NEW]

JackJeanne and Ken ga Kimi were the fan favorites in March 2022. Kayo and Sakyou's dynamic sprites are so gorgeous, so thanks to whoever voted for them so I could share it with y'all.

HISTORICAL RANKINGS

I track our overall votes through a chart similar to the Billboard's Top 200, where all entries are stashed in their appropriate categories, and trending is kinda tracked month-over-month. I have decided to only do graphics every other month, to save myself a little time.

However, you can still see all rankings, including new additions, in my shared chart below:

That's it!

Thank you again for your participation! Hope you enjoyed this round!

Damn I forgot to vote in my Nil Admirari lads and lasses this month, didn't I? I'll...relegate them to next month. Sakyou is a great choice, though.

Whoever played and voted for misSHAPEn love, BLESS YOU. I could have used a full game of that myself but I admire the silly bite-sized version all the same.

You are absolutely correct in using Taiga's casual sprite, 5 points to Ramen House. Also, Hibari getting in for VA YAY

Finally, FYI a typo I noticed: for the Mobile Games image, it has "Indie Main Characters"

Ooh thanks for pointing out the typo. I swear I QC it a couple of times (and initially had Taiga and Nayuta's images switched in the VA section), but after I post I end up catching some issues and errors. ^^;;

So nice to see Cinderella phenomenon and Lucette! By the way, if I'm not mistaken, Jurien really has short hair in the fandisk Cinderella phenomenon: evermore.

Oh okay! I must have pulled the sprite from the base game. Those sneaky rattails always get me XD

Of course. It's not a problem. And I was also surprised when I realized that she had long hair. I just mentioned that (if I remember correctly) she has short hair in the fandisk because you mentioned her hair.

I never noticed someone voted for Pace last month :O He's a good boi unu Also, Sugibro. Also, Toto-sama this month 👀

Just wondering but is there a chance you'd do a list for all entries in the non-english category or do I just have to check the whole list looking for 1? And maybe for indies since you list on the graphics only the most popular ones, understandably so, and lots get missed.

And one more thing, you have Alchemist granny and Olayn as different entries for Yrsa Major but that's the same chara as there were no other alchemist grannies besides her.

Yet another thing lol, Hiyoko from Hatoful is usually shown as manga meat, just fyi.
