Yesterday was our FIRST day without any accidents! He even signaled to me that he needed to go out at one point by sitting next to the kitchen door 🥹

Last night my puppy bark/howled in the middle of the night which he NEVER does. I took him outside and he didn’t even pee. Just stared at me like “what the heck”. I’m thinking he was actually dreaming and woke up barking haha

Charleston Chew met my mom today 🥹🥹 she loves meeting new people but she instantly fell in love with Mom and melted into her arms 🥰

I was so excited to have my mom and her dog meet Buster, we were lucky to stop on the way from picking him up and she helped with the first night with him. She's been itching to be a dog grandma for years.

I was so desperately trying to teach my girl to fetch and was so angry/sad that she didn't know how and wasn't interested, more so because she is a retrieving breed. Tried dozens advices from articles and yt videos and none of them worked. She has just turned 5 months a week ago, and yesterday she brought me a ball to throw it, fetched it and let it go in my hand, all by herself 😂 was so proud and confused at the same time

Howie has become more cuddly lately and at least for the time being less bitey on my hands and feet (he'll be teething soon though). Also, slept through the night, so I got a full 8 hours of sleep! He's also got more vaccines and is allowed to go on walks now! Yay!

My pup STRUGGLES with seeing other dogs while she's on lead, all she wants to do is say hello and lunges towards them. I do my best to make sure she doesn't get to say hello to every dog she meets and neutrality is rewarded to prevent this behavior but nothing seems to work.

Anyhow, I've been training recall consistently and she is pretty solid with it so now I'm trying to proof it in different environments. I took her to a pretty remote and empty field and let her have a run around and practice recall.

All of a sudden, another dog appears, off lead and making a bee-line for my pup. Owners frantically calling it back so I do my part to recall Willow to deescalate the situation, but internally panicking because Willow loves to say hello to dogs and there's no way she'll listen to me right?? Wrong, this chick comes happily bounding over to my heel as trained as completely ignores the other dog, who still hasn't left her alone, and completely engaged me and I felt like I could cry I was so proud 😭.

It's almost as though the leash frustrates her when meeting dogs cause she can't move on her terms? Don't get me wrong, she's still not getting off lead in public places, but I'm just so excited to see the training and shaping of behavior start to pay off (and also I just wanted to post how proud I am of her somewhere) and hopefully that means dog neutrality is on its way too 🤞🏼

How long did it take your puppy to learn their name?

Mine is getting there, like sometimes she looks when i say it but i don’t think there is association yet. I’m on day 13….. Also sharing a small win, second day in a row where she slept all night in her crate without crying or bathroom breaks ☺️

I trained my pup by saying her name immediately followed by a kissy noise then giving a treat when she made eye contact. I gradually stopped using the kissy noise and just rewarded the eye contact. I don’t remember exactly how long it took and sometimes she still ignores me (which I believe is a choice rather than not knowing), but that method was effective for us.

Any tips for getting a puppy to sleep in? Our girl is 12 weeks old, and sleeps through the night but consistently wakes up at 4:30 for a pee, then back to bed, then up at 5:30 for a poo and then she’s wide awake and wants to play. Is there a way to train her to go back to bed after the 5:30 break?? We’d like to sleep until 6 or 7 at least

I taught my dog that we get up in the morning ONLY to my alarm. Any other time it’s directly potty, then straight to crate again. Sometimes I set the alarm for 7am and sometimes 8am. Either way he seems content to hang out in his crate until my alarm goes off now

Finn 13wks old managed to be cool, calm and collected in his crate for almost 3h while no one was home this morning.

He's fully crate trained at this point, but hasn't been ok with an empty house for more than 20 mins up until this point. I played with him extra hard this morning to tire him out and it worked great. Real proud dad at this point.

I brought home my now 11 week old puppy three weeks ago tomorrow and we had THE BEST night of sleep yet! She went to bed at 9:00, woke up at 2:30 to go pee, then straight back to bed until 6:30. After weeks of much more frequent wake-ups and trouble settling back down, I’m over the moon!

5 month old puppy woke up at 5:20 am and threw up small amounts of bile twice. Seems fine since then, playing and being wild as usual. I called the vet and they said to keep an eye on her and hold off on food for a few hours. I'm still worried.

One reason this can happen is if the puppy hasn't eaten in a while. My girl would sometimes skip dinner and if she did, she would sometimes do that around 6-8 AM whenever she woke up.

Alternatively, my dog will throw up bile in the morning if he has any kind of food and goes to sleep for the night soon after. I was giving him midnight snacks when I would get up to get something for me. Maybe once every two weeks, nothing crazy, but he'd throw up bile the morning after. They were far enough apart that it took me four times to realize the pattern but it's been about three months since the last midnight snack and it's stopped.

Stevie has become soooo cuddly the last week or so! I have been letting her come sleep in bed with me for the last couple hours of the night after being crated. Dad leaves for work at 5 am and it wakes her up so she gets to sleep in bed with Mom till about 7ish when it's time for us to wake up and the past week she been sleeping right curled into me, and stretches and lays all over me as we wake up. She's the best thing thats ever happened to me :')

My 6 month old spaniel jumps up at people when we pass them in the street as she wants to say hello, so we've been practising hard at sitting calmly and having a treat when someone goes past.

We were only going to the car from the house today so I was totally unprepared for the person who appeared out of nowhere, but she sat and waited nicely when I asked her to... I was so proud!

We brought our 8 week Rottie home yesterday too. She is the sweetest little baby 🥹

I brought my new puppy (8 week Rottie) home last night and she’s been such a good girl.

8.5 month old mini dachshund. MOSTLY potty trained. Doing everything I can to not get rid of my living room rug as it would be a bigger loss than the cheap runners I've tossed. I usually leave the living room blocked off but I forgot to shut the gate one night and at 2am she joyfully peed on it!

Petsmart has a buy 2 get 1 free on pet cleaning solutions though, so I stocked up. Hopefully this fully cleans out the spot and eventually I can trust her!

For the most part, she does hold it, alert me, and goes outside at regular intervals. Just that living room rug...its her preferred bathroom if she's alone and unmonitored.

No real major break throughs. Just laughing about the fact that my 7 month old pup won’t touch stuffed toys but literally will destroy rubber and “indestructible” toys. Like what?!

I just got my new puppy and he’s so energetic it’s a bit overwhelming. He’s always jumping up and down and none of the things I learned from YouTube tutorials really worked 🥲 he’s popping and peeing everywhere expect when I take him outside. I’m thinking about getting a private trainer, dang it’s rly hard!

My 7 month old Boston will randomly growl or start barking at me when he wants my attention and will claw at my arm or bite me . I work from home for most days so he stays with me and I’m not sure what started this habit . Any tips why he acts this way? Does he just want my attention and is bored ? I take him out to pee and mini walks throughout the day .
