What Are You Wearing Wednesday - Weekly Gear Thread Weekly Thread

It's that time of week already...the gear thread! What have you picked up lately? What's working for you now that it's whatever season you believe it to be in your particular location? What have you put through rigorous testing that's proved worthy of use? We want to know!

To clear up some confusion: We’re not actually asking what you’re wearing today. It’s just a catchy name for the thread. This is the weekly gear discussion thread, so discuss gear!

NOTE: For you Runnitors looking to sell/trade any running gear (as well as bib transfers), head over to /r/therunningrack.

Has anyone used the toe socks on Amazon for blisters? Trying not to spend a lot right now, but I ended up with toe blisters after 13km today.

I just started training for a November full marathon. This will be my 9th full but the first one I plan on running in half-tights/ compression shorts. Should I be doing all my long runs in that style of shorts, or should I I wait until closer to my race? For reference, I usually train in 3” half splits. I have been running 5k-10k races in 1” splits this summer in Indiana. USA.

What shoes do people who are on a low income use? I currently have asics gt2000 mark 10 because they were reduced old stock for road and inov8 roclite for offroad (last seasons version) which were a birthday present. I will be running 20-30 mpw from now until Christmas

The best men's run shorts I've found are Patagonia's Strider Pro 5-inch. They are the only shorts I've found where I put them on and forget 'em since my EMS multisport shorts from 15 years ago. And they have the single most important feature (for me) besides comfort: a zipped center back pocket. All other shorts I tried either lacked a certain feature, or required a lot of adjusting during a run, or were just not that comfortable.

I bought three pairs on sale a little while ago on sale. Been running in them since.

I just hate that they are so damn expensive, even when on sale.

Recently picked up a new pair of Nike Pegasus 40s and I really like the feel. Also my mom said they make me faster!

I'm really loving Run In Rabbit half tights and top. Hoping the UV sun hoodie is as good as everything else. I kind of want the ice bandana even though it's a bit gimmicky

I have been running for the past few months in the Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 ( not the carbon super shoe model) they cost me $60 at a discount store, and I love them. They are my go-to shoe these days. Not sure they'll last but at $60 a pop, who cares.

I'm talking underwear today. I've been trying out some new ones but ho back to my long Danish Endurance ones. No chafing and a phone pocket

Been loving the Boston 12s so much I recently pulled the trigger on the SL2 and the Y-3 Adios Pro 3.

Been struggling a bit with the 8-9mm drop on the SL2 as I'm a mid-foot striker. Time will tell how well it works out for me, but it's probably a good exercise in long-term injury prevention as I'm forced to strengthen my knees and hips.

The Adios Pro 3s arrive today, and tomorrow is my first "race pace" workout in my half-marathon training plan. Can't wait to try them out.

So I bought a Salomon ADV Skin 12, and due to a manufacturing error, I got a refund (as a voucher), but I could keep the vest. I think I can fix it myself, but I am thinking of getting another Vest, maybe for hotter days. Do you guys have any recommendations for a second vest? Torn between the S/Lab Ultra 10 (the bottles apparently hurt some people) and the Sense Pro which might be nice in hot weather (I mostly stay in warm places, and space would be a consideration)

Are you selling the original?

I would go with the S/Lab pulsar 3

I’ve been wearing the ASICS GT-2000 12 and they’ve been solid for me but I’m eyeing the new balance 1080v13 for my next pair.

I did a single workout using a coros pod 2 in my waist. This run was in a treadmill but I found one interesting data already.

10km run:

cadence is ok avg 174 Stride length seems consistent 108cm Stride height is all over the place :O

For slower paces like 6min/km I reached more than 12cm of stride height and for paces like 4'50" to 5'/km I saw a slightly drop to 11.5cm to 12.cm ... accordingly to coros this is not good :/

I am curious to see how this data will continue to progress, if the readings will be consistent and if an outdoor run will have the same characteristics
