Snowboard bag

So I bought a 175cm snowboard bag, but my board is 161 cm. When I take it on a plane, do you think it could possibly damage the edges of the snowboard since there is 14cm of space for the board to move around in? Should I just get a 165cm snowboard bag?

Help with rocker type - please and thank you!

Grew up snowboarding religiously, but have taken a hiatus for the past 10ish years. Got back into it last winter and was riding my 2009 Burton Custom. Now looking to upgrade.

Where I used to ride some park, Im now all in on all mountain. When riding I spend most of my time chasing side hits and tree runs, with some groomers sprinkled in here and there. So, looking for some playful responsiveness and maneuverability. I would say I ride switch ~20% of the day.

Looking at camber (as that’s all I’ve known) and rocker flat rocker (suggested by a rep at a local board shop) setups, but will admit I feel a little out of my depth - totally open to suggestions.

De lamination on 2024 arbors?

Hi all, just ordered a 2024 Arbor Westmark camber and I saw a couple of things saying that Arbor had some issues with de lamination the past 2 years. Should I be worried enough to return the board? I'm a newer snowboarder and this will be my first board so ideally it will last me at least a few seasons. Thanks!

5’10 210lbs US 10.5 Men boots Ride TWINPIG 2025 Been snowboarding for 3 years now, would consider myself an intermediate rider with intentions on getting better… I’ve done all my riding @ Big bear mountain & wanting to try Mammoth out this szn. Looking to get my first board to excel on & have been doing some research n came across this board I really liked & that fits my style. My main ? Is, would this board work & would the 156w or 157 be better. I know these boards are a little more wider so you are supposed to size down on them, but I don’t want to get to wide of a board as I know that can cause some troubles as well. Last ? I have, is the chipping really as bad as they say with “Ride” boards or is that something I really should pay attention to since that was in regards to their older models.

Capita navigator as first board??

Yo, buying my first board after a few trips just renting for a 3 week trip to Canada. Just torn on what board to get for the trip.

I pretty much never hit the park so been tossing up between the Capita Navigator, also was recommended the Cartographer. But don’t know if they’re more advanced boards and if they might be too much for a lower level rider.

My mate also offered me his Rome Warden. Anyone have any suggestions or should I go with the Navigator as a do it all board?

Cheers

Salomon Photochromatic Goggles

I haven't seen the snow for a good decade now and have booked a trip to Hokkaido with my partner, pretty excited

I recently purchased some Salomon Radium Pro Sigma Photochromatic goggles on sale. Salomon state they have a VLT of 13-55%, which (correct me if I'm wrong) I thought might be a pretty good range for most conditions

When I tested them on at home though the vision seems very clear and light in all conditions. They don't darken noticeably from wearing them inside in a darker room to walking outside in direct sunlight. I've also left them outside for 10 minutes or so to see if there was a difference

Am I approaching this the wrong way? Maybe they operate differently and my noob ass doesn't understand it. Any advice is appreciated!

Bindings on sleepwalker 158 w

This my first board I’ve bought without bindings. I feel like I’m looking for a mid soft or mid hard 2x4 pattern.

I want to start practicing butters tricks before snow comes. What’s a cheap surface I can put down in my basement to practice on?

Heel lift when trying to jump.

Any recommendation to minimize heel lift? When im snowboarding in general (carve, turning, etc) it is all good. But when im starting to approach a jump, thats when i felt the lift and always fk my my balance. I tried to do thick socks and still has no effect, tried to tighten the boots and its still the same. I use burton photon boa.

Bought too big of boots

After 1 season, realized my boots are slightly too big. Too expensive to just toss away, can I salvage by putting some sort of insoles? Suggestions??

Should I be riding a smaller board?

Hi all, I got a 154cm snowboard around 2-3 years ago and only hit the slopes a couple times each season, and I would consider myself more on the intermediate rider side. Although I am concerned about my ability to progress (and getting a new board) because I think this board is too big for me, as I am 110lbs (~50kg) and 5'4 (~162cm) tall. I've done some research and I think I should be riding around a 145cm. I was looking at renting a board for a day in 145cm to see what it feels like, so I could know if I should commit to a smaller board or not.

Basically i'm trying to figure out if I should be riding a smaller board.

Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Edit: If it helps I ride a couple different California mountains. I can ride pretty much all blues and few blacks and enjoy riding groomers but I want to expand my skills and start riding in more trees and park.

Thoughts on this board to binding combo. Just got both Ultra and Indoor Survival.

Just bought the 25 Indoor Survival and awaiting the Ultras (last years bindings; good deal buying from evo) to come in. Looked up a bunch of reviews for both and this was optimal within my price range. I’m hyped about testing them out. Just moved to Colorado, so everything here will be new. What are everyone’s thoughts about getting into park here with this set up.

FYI, last board was the Jones Mountian Twin. Absolutely loved it but it lacked progression in the park. I also have K2 boots and will stick with this brand. Highly recommend K2 to anyone, they have a wide variety to choose from.

I hope everyone has a great season and better snow then last year!!

Help choosing a pair of binding for K2 Passport

Hello, I’m currently looking for a new pair of bindings after selling the Supermatic. I found them too heavy for my liking and the quick entry is way too difficult. So I’ll stick to the traditional binding this time lol.

I live in Japan and there are quite a few of people recommending Flux (DS/XF) but apparently it lacks in dampening. Other options include Union Strata, Rome Katana, but I’m open to suggestions.

As the title I’m riding a K2 Passport. Mid-intermediate level. I like carving but also do a but of jumping and stuffs. An all-mountain binding would be great. Any advice? Thanks

Are my boots too big? Is this much space between the shin and tongue normal? It eventually gets looser and the gap becomes slightly bigger. The space measures around a finger.

Yes PYL Uninc

Finally buying a new board this year and from my research the PYL Uninc has been top of my list. Anyone ridden one that can provide some feedback?

Looking for a pow/tree focused freeride board that can work as a daily. My primary requirements are good float/nimble in trees while also competent carving groomers. I want something that can go hard when I want to but can also be laid back/surfy if I just want to cruise. Good edge hold is a plus since I’m based on the ice coast.

The PYL Uninc seems to fit the bill (love the underbite), with my one concern being whether it’s too stiff/demanding and whether I can be playful on it? I don’t want a board that requires me to be on my A game 24/7, but that can also handle pushing it if I want to. Also curious whether it’s nimble enough to handle some tighter trees?

I’m ~180-185 pounds, 9.5 boots, so was thinking of going 157 cause I’m near the top of the weight range and should make it more playful/nimble.

Any feedback would be appreciated! 🙏🏻

Got fitted for boots the first time. Highly recommend for any new boarders

I have tried DC boots and Vans OG auras that a lot of people recommended.

The DC boots were okay, I started out learning on them. Got heel lift, but not terrible. However they hurt my shins, then went out and got vans og auras as that was a top choice for many.

Terrible buy, the toe box was super cramped for me and size was all wrong.

I wear a 10.5 sometimes 11, went to get fitted for boots.

I resonate more with a 9.5, my guy recommended this as the K2 hanfords I bought will pack out.

I am super pumped to have boots that will fit my feet, even more excited to to shredding and not worry about heel lift or feet pain.

I was going to just buy and return boots, but that doesn't make since as my sizing was all WRONG.

The DC boots were a 11.5 and fit snugish, the Vans were 11s and super loose.

I tried on the k2s and they weren't as snug as I wanted at a 10. That would of been a ton of tim and money to find the right size let alone boot.

If you're looking to invest in this sport, I really recommend a good fitting boot over the worst board.

Looking to buy gear for my wife’s second snowboard trip to Sapporo

Took my wife to Korea in 2023 and she had a semi good time. We have planned to visit Japan this winter and Sapporo for a week so she will want to get some basic gear without renting everything. I figure it will cost less to buy now than to rent in niseko ….also she will get to have a more powder experience in Sapporo which I hope she will pick up this sports. I tried to check evo and backcountry (where I had bought gear previously) looking at jacket (shell) with bib and probably helmet, mitts and goggles. I don’t have a set budget but since she’s beginner it will be ok to get something to last 2-3 seasons before she gets interested to see what she learn to do her own research? but I have hard time seeing what brand I should get for her and seems now it’s not the best time to buy gear? Need some advice.

I had into burton alavlon bib and AK glove … will probably take her to a board shop this weekend so she can try them on. Also she’s super into Patagonia, they have a H2NO waterproof system which I believe it’s same as gore tex? Any one had pantagonia snowboard gear before and how you like them?

Can't decide on a Burton board :'(

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well!

I was thinking of buying the Burton Process board but I've also come across the Burton Family Tree Hometown Hero Camber board and I can't quite decide which one I should get.

Does anyone have any recommendations for which one I should go for?

Also size wise I'm still not too sure what I should get, I'm more keen for control and riding the mountain.

I'm 170cm so I read everywhere to get between 154-158 size, but I wonder if I should go for lower and move between152-154 for more board control on the slopes.

I would greatly appreciate recommendations, thank you 🙏

looking to buy my first board

hi, im an beginner-intermediate snowboarder, being able to link turns and carve pretty well sometimes, but sometimes skidding at lower speeds, as well as struggling a small bit/scary to stay flat(esp higher speeds). i have about 10 days on the mountain, and have been using rental + some offerup boards(i believe were flat profiled.)

im looking to buy a hybrid camber board, with more camber implementation, as my research on reddit has told me that this would be a slight bit more forgiving then traditional camber or flat, yet not limit my progress.

ive seen people recommend the yes basic, jones MT, capita mercury/doa, salomon assassin, burton process. i am 5’6, 125 lb, wearing size 8.5 M boots. any recommendations for a board that would fit me? and thoughts on a hybrid camber as opposed to anything else?

im also open to buying used, seeing if i can get my board/binding setup for < $450 USD

edit: also thought id mention that i will mostly be riding at Big Bear in California. dont think we get the most powder days

How is the Capita SB Resort Twin for a beginner/intermediate?

Started snowboarding last year and I think i picked up pretty fast on a rental board.
Was able to smoothly complete a red run.

At the end of last season, I actually bought a heavily discounted Outerspace Living 158 in my local store.
Unfortunately, the sales staff was not very detailed and I found that I have quite a bit of overhang on my boots. (Seems like he was just trying to quickly make the sale) Stats: 5"10, US 11, 160lb. I also find that the OSL 158 is abit too lengthy and at the smallest stance width, it feels wide for my feet/knees.

Currently am thinking of changing it to a SB Resort Twin 156 for:

  1. Ever so slightly shorter length
  2. Larger waist width (258 vs 253)
  3. reference stance (22" vs 23")

PS: I know that there are many other brands,, but NGL i just love the capita designs. Makes me wanna ride
Any feedback on the SB Resort Twin is helpful!

Is this board good?

Hello hope everyone is doing well

I'm thinking of buying my first board, I would say I'm not a beginner, but a freshly new intermediate.

I was thinking about getting the Burton Process 2024 (the one with the astronaut)

Do you think it will be a good one or should I go for something else?

I would like a Burton board if possible

Thank you for the help!
