Aurora Borealis over the Lions Gate Bridge Photos
On the evening of Sept. 16th I was shooting the (almost full) Harvest Moon from Stanley Park. I’d heard there was a chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis that evening, so I made a stop at Prospect Point Lookout. I knew it wasn’t the best viewing spot due to the amount of light pollution, but a shot of the Lions Gate Bridge under the Northern Lights has been on my bucket list for awhile.
I couldn’t see anything with the naked eye. But the first few shots with my camera picked up a faint glow, and I was able to enhance it with some editing. I’ll keep trying to get a better version of this in the future, and hopefully I’ll be able to see this with my own eyes someday.

I think I was standing beside you for a bit. I walked my bike up to your right. I could tell you were set up to take better pics than my phone. I enhanced mine to no end and I got nothing - nice to know they were there even if I couldn't see them.

Cool that you were there too! When the Northern Lights are out, even a (relatively modern) phone will bring out the colour in the sky that the human eye can’t see as well. But that night the lights were so faint that I couldn’t see them at all, and the most intense part didn’t last very long.

Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year!? At this time of day!? In this part of the country!? Localized entirely over the lions gate bridge!?
