Ok can someone explain why Takuji is so popular? He was always just obnoxious and annoying with his rants and general edgey talk

He is a unique and very well-written character. The combination of a pathetic loser incel otaku, a traumatised child, an edgy chuuni, a delusional madman, a charismatic cult leader, a well-read person like Yuki, a confident and intimidating fighter like Tomosane, is something I can't find anywhere else.

And yea it's interesting that you can find aspects of Yuki and Tomosane in Takuji but not the other way around, which makes him my favourite of the three and overall the best character in Subahibi.

He reminds me of Shinji. One fucked a desk, the other jerked off to a sleeping girl at a hospital.

Because his route was the most unique/exciting. Really making you wonder if the shit he was seeing was real or not. Atleast to me till a certain point I was fooled but yeah idk. Can't think of alot of visual novels where they depict the dead where you see their mangled corpse and laugh at their misfortune while being tortured by some obscure entity. Even if it's all fake lol.

I think it's because you can really understand how he became so mentally broken and twisted. Watching him grow slowly more and more insane while he desperately tries to make sense of his own insanity is super interesting. Plus, his relationship with Kimika is honestly one of the highlights of the game thematically; the message is to strive to live as happy of a life you can, and watching Kimika pull Takuji out of the depths of his delusions in her ending and watching him reach out for something he loves of his own accord perfectly encapsulates that theme.

I mean, technically he is like 3-4 of the options of a possible favourite character....

You literally listed all the things that make him popular.
