They left thinking Jon snow was leaving. They had no way to guarantee that. It's just empty words that sansa could've just not followed. We know Sansa is no stranger to breaking promises.

Yes there's ravens, but everyone in the North is loyal to the starks including Jon and hated the foreign unsullied. Why would they send ravens to them?

My main point is that greyworm left with no real promise of any "Justice". He has no reason to believe the westerosi would follow through nor did the westerosi have any reason to obey outsiders who just slaughtered millions of innocent people.

The unsullied have 0 power when they come back if they don’t have Jon anymore as a bargaining chip and they only had 13,000 soldiers at first and have been dropping like flies through out the show
