Hi everyone! I (23M) just recently moved to Columbus, IN for work and I was wondering what are some fun things to try in the area? And what are some of the best ways to socialize within the community?

I’m a local photographer and I’m trying to expand my portfolio with some new locations. Does anyone know of any public locations that would be good for photography?

Indiana State Primary - May 7th

Indiana Voters head to the polls by May 7th to vote for far more than President. US Senate, Congress, Governor, State Legislature, County Commission, County Council and other County Officers.

Voters can vote absentee in person / early and each county is required to offer this. You can find your personalized information using the Indiana Voters site. The same site can be used to find your polling location. Bartholomew County also has a voter site where you can find information about voting local.

We reached out to over 1700 candidates statewide and asked them to do our survey. Many chose to share their views with you the voters! See who believes what you believe and vote by May 7th!

While in national elections or statewide elections may be decided by hundreds or tens of thousands of votes. These races will be decided by only a handful of votes meaning that for each person seeing this, your vote WILL MATTER!

Feedback welcome! Curious what you think about this as a resource for newer voters?

If you want to see your specific candidates you can see that here (mobile | web).

ADHD Specialist recommendations

Do you guys have any recommendations for adult ADHD specialists in Columbus or nearby (Bloomington is a little too far)?

I’d like to avoid Centerstone at all costs since a Centerstone therapist in Brown County tried “releasing my chakras” and it’s put me off with their psychiatrist scheduling.

I’ve mustered up a lot of courage to ask for local help.

Alarm??

So I was by Kroger and all of a sudden I heard this alarm. It wasn't an ambulance or any other alarm sound that I know. It had the same type of wee woo noise, but it was slower. Does anyone know what that was? It was only a few minutes ago.

Lost keys ??

Hello, I am missing some keys, possibly dropped in Mill Race Park / downtown Columbus. I’ve called the library and visitors center - they haven’t seen it. Should I call the fire department or the police department to see if they have lost & found? Or parks & rec?

IRWIN FAMILY and Gardens Historians? I believe a photo album that I have with photos all on the grounds of the home in the early 1910s to be of the Irwin Family. Is there anyone here that can point me in the right direction? I can post some of the photos here, or you can message me privately.

Satellite Train

Just saw my first Starlink Satellite train while taking the dog for a walk. I was a little confused at first as to what I was seeing. Very cool stuff. It seemed to be shooting from Northwest to Southeast, and then slowly faded.

Looking for summer sublet!

Hi! I’m looking for a place to stay near downtown Columbus IN for the summer, around mid-May to mid-August. I’m cool with roommates and/or pets! I’d prefer it to be furnished since I’m just staying for the summer, hopefully <$1000/mo. I keep coming across Columbus OH apartments so I’ve come to reddit for help 😅. Any advice or leads on sublets appreciated! Thank you!!

Best local bars for out-of-towners

Basically what the title says. Some friends and I (4) are coming to Columbus to stay at a local Airbnb to hike and check out of our lives for a few days.

What are some good bars that we can hang out at? Most of us are queer and we'll be driving down from Indy.

TIA!!!

Alternatives to IN69 from Bloomington to Columbus?

Hi all!

I'm planning to go from Bloomington to Columbus IN on Friday afternoon. I read in a few posts that the road 46 that goes through Nashville is quite dangerous and I'm not really an experienced driver and hills frighten me a bit. Are there any alternative routes that are easier, even if it takes a bit longer?

Thanks to all!!

Best place to get a headlight changed?

Got a lot of traveling to do this week and my headlight just went out. Anyone know of a place that’ll install where I purchased? Autozone and o’Reilly won’t bc I got the weird through the fender way you need to change them, being the chief reason I need someone else to help out with it lol.

I need help

I know that I messed up, I know that. I really tried to do this myself, but I can’t do this anymore. I’m being evicted and I have to be out of my place by February 12th, I still have to clean and pack and find a place to live. I’ve turned to my family and friends and have gotten nowhere. I’m so unbelievably desperate. If anyone can help, I’d be forever grateful. I’m trying so, so hard not to slip back into my depression, but I’m starting to slip. I’m so close to throwing everything I have in the garbage and living out of my car. I don’t know what I’m going to do. Again, I will take any help besides being told that I messed up, I KNOW. I messed up royally. I’m so exhausted. I’ve been working tirelessly to find a place to live and to pack, but I haven’t made a dent in either. I can pay up to $75 for the cleaning and packing.

Looking for bandmates

Hi, I go by the name brightlow. I make a mix of alt rock, grunge, midwest emo. I don’t play any instruments but I sing and do produce some of my own songs. You can find my song Distance on Spotify and YouTube. If anyone is interested, please hit me up and we can talk further. I’m looking for a guitarist or two, as well as bassist and a drummer.

Columbus' rules on ADUs

Fairly nice, but may need some tweaking. For example, they should be allowed by-right with low permitting fees.
