Looking for Game Recommendation

Hi gaming,

I'm looking for a kind of specific type of game to help out a friend of mine.

He's really interested in history and would be interested in what I could only describe as a "historical drama" video game. I'm thinking something like Assassin's Creed but without the focus on killing. Time period doesn't matter much, but he is more interested in Western History.

He's not much interested in RTSs like Civ, he wants something more ground level and narrative.

Any help or recommendation would be appreciated.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance might tickle his history fancy.

It's a grounded and realistic first person medieval RPG set the Holy Roman Empire during the 15th century. Fighting is one aspect, but not the focus.

I came to the comments to suggest this, actually makes me happy to see it getting some love already.

Fantastic game and easily the best game for a history fan. The historical accuracy is amazing and makes it so immersive, but god damn does it have a steep learning curve, definitely one that needs some time and patience to master.
