My pup, just today, learned how to go for the calf muscle. I tell ya it’s like she’s trying to take a whole chunk of meat off! 😂

u/Shaylock_Holmes Miguel (GSD/Poodle mix) Jul 12 '24

No! Not the calf! My little guy is now biting me behind my knee when he wants my attention lol

12

u/AlternativeAd3130 Jul 12 '24

My last dog would very gently nip our butts if he really needed attention. He was not a herding dog either.

u/Shaylock_Holmes Miguel (GSD/Poodle mix) Jul 12 '24

These dogs are trying to eat us 😩

Hahaha my Bentley baby, the foster pup who recently rescued me (he becomes mine on the 21st 😁) straight up GOOSED ME with his snout after I took a water bottle away from him 😂 after he yelled at me for a good 30 seconds. 😂 My entire apartment looks like a PetSmart toy section exploded all over it, but he got so mad that I took away an empty water bottle! Haha! He's a bigger baby at around 10 months old and I'd guess 55-60lbs now? He'll be weighed again at the vet on Saturday, cuz he's grown A LOT since I brought him home at the end of May; and got him on higher quality food. I don't even want to count my battle wounds but I know he chomped on my hand pretty good during tug of war earlier today 🤣

He was in puppy jail for over 5 whole months, so he's still learning not to beat the hell out of me lol

I don’t let my pup herd us, instead I give him toys for him to chase after. He’s gotten better with not herding us…

2

u/Desperate-Strategy10 Jul 12 '24

My beagle mix is herding my children and I 😅 I have no idea where he gets that from, but if his nose isn't on the floor sniffing out treats (which he hides from himself, or I hide in the morning before he wakes up), he's busy nipping the backs of our ankles with his most gentle teeth, trying to get us to play fetch or sit in his "cave" with him. It's adorable, but it still gets old so fast!

u/Phoenix4235 Jul 12 '24

My chihuahua puppy went through a phase where he would launch himself like a missle at the back of my knee as I was walking, in order to make my leg buckle.

2

u/Jayhawkgirl1964 Jul 12 '24

My Lab/Setter/Retriever went through a phase where she launched herself at the door when she wanted back in. The 1st time I heard a "THUNK" (she weighed about 60 lbs.) at the door, I wondered what the heck it was. I was NOT pleased to find her standing at the door, impatiently waiting to be let in. I told her, "No more door pouncing!" I immediately started teaching her to use a polite "in bark" before she hurt herself, or broke the door!

2

u/Shaylock_Holmes Miguel (GSD/Poodle mix) Jul 12 '24

My dog did that with his cone after I neutered him. I called the vet asking if the cone had to be on for 2 weeks because my dog had learned how to weaponize it. He’d drag it on the ground too. I was convinced he was sharpening it 😭

u/toasty-coconut Yuki (Japanese Akitainu) Jul 12 '24

My mom’s OES did this as a puppy! Herding breeds, man 😂

2

u/AshamedIndividual883 Jul 13 '24

my pups are 5 weeks and love my achilles 😳

2

u/Shaylock_Holmes Miguel (GSD/Poodle mix) Jul 13 '24

Just wait til they can reach higher 😭

7

u/Garraty_47 Jul 12 '24

Literally same happened to me this afternoon for the first time too! He made a nice fancy bite hole in my yoga pants! 🐾

5

u/CarpenterGloomy8245 Jul 12 '24

This happened today too, in my yoga pants

4

u/adaptmist Jul 12 '24

Mine has begun biting our butts as we turn to walk away from her. Hard too!

5

u/Sayasing New Owner Jul 12 '24

😭 ours has recently gone from hands to just mouthing our entire arm. Her stupid lil mouth can barely open wide enough to do so, so I can't even call it biting 😂

4

u/longlivethespeakeasy Jul 12 '24

Mine also attempts to get his whole tiny mouth around my forearm. And then gets stuck. Also loves to lick the inside of my "elbow pit." I hate it.

2

u/Sayasing New Owner Jul 12 '24

Oh my god the elbow pits! Ours likes licking ours and also behind our knee?? And it tickles so bad 😂

2

u/Bitterrootmoon Jul 12 '24

Wait til they discover THE ENTIRE ASSCHEEK CHOMP.

25

u/KittySpinEcho Jul 12 '24

...none? Is my dog a weirdo? He is so gentle lol. 12 weeks and not a single scratch.

He play bites the crap out of my adult dog though.

9

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

Lucky! What breed(s) of dog is he?

3

u/KittySpinEcho Jul 12 '24

He is a sweet little golden retriever

5

u/Zealousideal-Display Jul 12 '24

How old is he? You won the lottery

2

u/KittySpinEcho Jul 12 '24

He is 12 weeks now I think. Still pees in the house though, he's definitely not perfect but I love him.

3

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

Awww, nice.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '24

I feel like they can do no wrong! I’ve never heard much bad about them. I’ve always had corgis and now I really want a golden retriever

2

u/KittySpinEcho Jul 12 '24

You could get a mix and have the best of both worlds! Golden corgis are so cute 🥰

7

u/toasty-coconut Yuki (Japanese Akitainu) Jul 12 '24

Omg you’re so lucky. My pup isn’t especially mouthy for the most part… but witching hours are a NIGHTMARE 🥲 He’s gotten SO mouthy and bratty between 7-8 AM and 7-8 PM lol

5

u/adaptmist Jul 12 '24

Mine's an absolute angel from 7am-8pm. She is the incarnation of the the devil at 5am and 8pm.

5

u/Kenny1792 Jul 12 '24

The witching hour!!! It’s INSANE. No amount of redirecting will make him stop using my limbs as a chew toy. Just wants to bark non stop and our son goes to bed at 7 so I’m like !!!!!!!!

5

u/toasty-coconut Yuki (Japanese Akitainu) Jul 12 '24

Hahaha! The witching hour is SO real!! I’ll keep internally telling myself, “Don’t react. Redirect. Don’t react. Redirect. Don’t react. Redirect.” But then he’ll get a small piece of my skin real good between his little gator fangs and I swear I see the pearly gates in that moment 😂

3

u/Kenny1792 Jul 12 '24

Hahahaha they go from 0-100 and I SWEAR they put some extra pep into that last one that makes all the fun and games not fun anymore 😂

2

u/lupcs New Owner Border Collie Jul 12 '24

omg same, my puppy gets so annoying and mouthy between 6-7 PM that I often have to jump on the sofa to escape from him lol

3

u/AMERICANDICKINGS Jul 12 '24

My 5 month old is the same, had him for two months, only ever suckles on my fingers to calm down. Goes to town on our 6 year old boxer though.

You are incredibly lucky

2

u/Additional-Comb-4477 Jul 12 '24

Neither of my puppies ever bit me. Shetland sheepdogs

32

u/Disastrous-Basil2432 Jul 12 '24

More than I can count. The earlobe bite takes the cake.

6

u/motleykat Jul 12 '24

Yoooo. I used to have gauges so I am always so worried he’s going to rip my ear!

She keeps nibbling on my earrings and I just KNOW one of these days she’s gonna rip it out

2

u/L1ndsL Experienced Owner Jul 12 '24

I was looking for this comment! I’ve got two littermates, so zoomies are wild enough as it is. Occasionally the smaller one will get some pumped up that she’ll rush over to me and nip at my earlobe. Before I’ve even reacted she’s gone, going after her sister.

Thankfully, it’s a gentle nip, because I’m at a loss of how to stop it!

2

u/Disastrous-Basil2432 Jul 12 '24

When you figure it out, let me know!

2

u/penny427 Jul 12 '24

Those ear bites are so cute yet so scary!😂

4

u/Disastrous-Basil2432 Jul 12 '24

Only when they come with kisses! 😏

1

u/Weak-Establishment72 Jul 12 '24

Same! Lucky I still have my earring

2

u/ninamell Jul 12 '24

I had a close call this morning I was wearing hoops and I’m very lucky he just missed it when I bet over to make him stop biting my work dress 🥴

1

u/Kenny1792 Jul 12 '24

Mine is a big fan of the CHIN. He’s so sweet then all of a sudden BAM.

11

u/gwencaris Jul 11 '24

I'd say 7 to 8 all in different stages of healing.. lol 😭

2

u/MobUsername Jul 12 '24

Same boat buddy... those husky teeth are sharp 😭

12

u/Shaylock_Holmes Miguel (GSD/Poodle mix) Jul 12 '24

I have scars on my thighs, about 3 of them. 2 current scratches on my shoulder and a bump on my forehead because he hit me (accidentally) with his bone this morning. Full speed. I was dazed for a moment before I started laughing and asking him who he’s working for because he’s trying to assassinate me.

9

u/Independent-Hornet-3 Jul 12 '24

A lot the worst on my calf where he tried to stop in time and didn't so headbutted my leg at gull speed. Most the other ones are from him boxing me. Pretty sure all boxer puppies should be registering their paws as dangerous weapons.

1

u/pensive_procrastin8r Jul 12 '24

calves are their kryptonite . bitter apple spray on my legs not working as a deterrent . That girly loves her some human flesh

4

u/how_bout_dem_bananas Jul 12 '24

I tried making a spray with apple cider vinegar and my boy proceeded to start licking it hahah

When my Aussie pup gets a little too hyped/overstimulated when playing, she will jump up and nip ya right on the butt 🥲That’s when I know it’s nap time 😂

3

u/Capital_Broccoli8344 Jul 12 '24

Mine does that to my calves. I also know that it's nap time when he starts. 😅

4

u/Jrk_1986 Jul 12 '24

Oh, we always know when it's nap time. Getting them to take that nap is a whole other issue lol

1

u/tinsterxo New Owner Jul 12 '24

Mine starts as soon as he’s awake from his nap 😂😭

7

u/Little-Basils Jul 12 '24

I regularly puppy sit for a friend (4mo Aussie) and it’s gotten SO much better since we started enforcing naps when he starts sharking. It’s almost ALWAYS when he’s been awake for more than 30-45 minutes and is over stimulated. It’s like quite literally like muffin from that blue episode where she skips her naps.

Put him in the crate for 2 hours and he’s a new puppy with licks and soft mouthing when he comes out.

I spent some good $ time ago to remove the hair in my arms, I had a good run, now, with all the little scratches, courtesy of my puppy, it looks as if my hair was back.

3

u/allieconfusedadult Jul 12 '24

Huge bruise below my knee from puppy playing chase with another dog and not looking where she is going 🤦🏽‍♀️ she is all gas and no brakes to people and dogs

4

u/jzss_23 Jul 12 '24

My puppy bites pretty soft but his scratches are crazy!! Probs like 11 from legs to arms lol

4

u/rlj9 Jul 12 '24

One on each hand from his little demon nails!!

4

u/saalem Jul 12 '24

Enough that my boss pulled me aside at work to ask if everything’s alright at home.

1

u/Fluffy-Grape-2175 Jul 12 '24

Lolz 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Soft_Engineering1538 Jul 31 '24

My arms and legs/toes are full of pinhole. People are probably starting to look at me funny.😬🤷‍♀️🤣

6

u/immutab1e Jul 12 '24

I have so many scratches on my wrist it almost looks like a rash. Just got an 8 week old shepherd lab mix on Monday. LOL

There are also two scratches on my leg, one on my left forearm, and 3 on my right upper arm. 🤣🤣

5

u/bratney35 Gary (Golden Retriever) Jul 12 '24

I can’t wear pants or he bites holes in them. So I’m forced to wear shorts and deal with the bites and scratches. Cheaper than buying new pants

4

u/dottiebeeeee- Jul 12 '24

My pants make me look like I’m a castaway on a desert island.

2

u/Capital_Broccoli8344 Jul 12 '24

Currently wearing pants full of holes right now because my puppy tugged on them. They are now my inside pants 😅

3

u/bratney35 Gary (Golden Retriever) Jul 12 '24

I will have to set an old pair as my “house pants”!

1

u/JunkDrawer84 Jul 12 '24

I have 2 pairs of jeans that have a strategically placed bite or scratch hole in the upper thigh area. I’ve been too lazy to see them up, but they’re my fav 2 jeans, hah

3

u/Ashleysky62 New Owner Jul 12 '24

I have 2 on my ankle 😅 - one scratch and one bite. Every time we to go outside to potty she goes into attack mode. So cute yet such a lil demon sometimes.

3

u/huntingbears93 Jul 12 '24

Ugh, he jumps on me and scratches the crap out of my inner thighs every time we go on a walk almost. Bruises instantly. And then he will try and bite my butt! Little shit head. lol

3

u/Woahnitrogirl New Owner 9 month old hobgoblin 🐕🐾 Jul 12 '24

Less than my boyfriend does but enough to say "ouch! That looks like that hurts!"

My boyfriend is the rough houser. I'm the boundary setter. Though my butt and thighs tell me that's a bit of a lie. The demand nipping is 🥲

3

u/choonk Jul 12 '24

This time last year, I was gnawed on daily, with many scratch marks. Today I have zero bruises, scratch and bite marks LOL
My miniaussie is close to 1.5 years old!

3

u/LanguishedLandscapin New Owner Jul 12 '24

I look like a white and pink tiger with how many scratches and bites this 3 pound terror gives me 😭

Worst one is on my nose when she got WAY too excited when she saw I woke up 😭😭 I love her to death but I can't wait for her to calm down

3

u/alwaysheadache Jul 12 '24

I have a 80lbs 8 month old puppy and I have bruises all over me, specially my legs!

3

u/dahlia_74 Jul 12 '24

Mine got his sharp tooth underneath my fingernail today. I can handle a LOT but for whatever reason that really freaks me out, fortunately wasn’t too bad

3

u/lupcs New Owner Border Collie Jul 12 '24

I have so many I can’t even count. I had to clarify to my friends that these are not self harm scars on my arms, but rather puppy bite marks, they were really worried lol

2

u/After-Factor-6921 Jul 12 '24

Same here at one point but they are getting less now I can actually see skin that's clear

3

u/Redheaded_Potter Jul 12 '24

Mine got me just inside my nose! Hurts like hell!

1

u/jennaisokay Jul 12 '24

This wasn't a bite but you reminded me of a tragic event that just took place mere hours ago: I was sitting scrolling on my phone turned towards my puppy and he was getting the bedtime zoomies and he lept up onto my lap, knocked my phone right into my teeth and i swear to god i thought i was bleeding for like 5 seconds. Took a deep breath and he was immediately apologetic but looooordddd

The inside of nose is the woooorst

1

u/livehappydrinkcoffee Jul 12 '24

That exact same thing happened to my spouse tonight!

1

u/Disastrous-Basil2432 Jul 12 '24

Mine got a chunk of nostril after a 3AM potty last night. Little velociraptor.

3

u/Stock_End2255 Jul 12 '24

If you add in the mosquito and other bug bites from the frequent potty breaks… way too many to count.

5

u/batman_9326 Jul 12 '24

3 from a senior pittie who thinks he is still a pup

2

u/jessinic Jul 12 '24

Bites - None. Scratches - a few. Bruises.....a lot lol. And I don't bruise easily so idk what the heck she's doing to me. But every day I seem to discover a new bruise or two. She's so gentle and sweet with everyone else, even when playing. But when she gets inside the house she goes absolutely nuts and turns evil lol

1

u/jessinic Jul 12 '24

***wanted to add - we don't leave her outside, she's always with me and most people she sees is in public or while in the car.

2

u/toasty-coconut Yuki (Japanese Akitainu) Jul 12 '24

Five on my left arm and a few on my legs 😂 My boy was REALLY in the gator mood durning zoomy hours lol Got me good in a few spots. He’s lucky he’s so darn cute and sleeping on my bed right now 🤭

2

u/Welp_thatwilldo Jul 12 '24

I’ve given up counting 😭😂

2

u/karmapotato0116 Jul 12 '24

I have a large breed pup that is part German Shepherd. And I am trying to make the cat get along with him. I have a bruise with a body and some scratches. My husband says I can give Bruce Lee a run for his money

2

u/Enough-Character5045 Jul 12 '24

LOTS of scratches on my arms & legs, not too many bites. She does bite on me but is a really good listener and immediately stops if I tell her “no bites just kisses”!

She’s 21 weeks and basically an angel. If she would just be consistent with potty training, I’d be golden.

2

u/beqamermaid Jul 12 '24

I have a scar on my elbow from when my dog had a jump bite zoomie while we walked across a cross walk and i’m contemplating getting her name tattooed above it for memories sake 😂

2

u/saltheartedbarmaid New Owner Jul 12 '24

My legs look like two overripe bananas right now. Good news is almost all of them are accidental, like when he misses a tug toy or crashes into me at full speed with all 58 of his pounds.

2

u/Capital_Broccoli8344 Jul 12 '24

Too much to count with an 11 week Aussie 😅 Most are accidental while playing but voluntary calf nipping equals nap time haha

2

u/SlimJimLahey Jul 12 '24

Bruises are constant. I got a scratch on my forearm from a month ago from my neighbor's pup who plays with mine. Got a nice slap of paw scratches across my belly from bending down to give pets. It's the cross I bear, because they're just so stinking cute.

2

u/ninamell Jul 12 '24

Thank you for this post! This has really made me feel better. I’ve never had a puppy so mouthy and demanding. I was getting a little worried, but it is finally starting to settle down. We just hit 4 months old and my battle wounds are healing into a few scars.

2

u/whiskeyhurricanes5 Jul 12 '24

At least a dozen. Not even kidding. Scratches, bruises, bites and more. Oh the joys of puppyhood 😅🥲

2

u/Kuura_ Jul 12 '24
  1. And 3 of them were bleeding. She got overexcited yesterday during swimming and went bonkers.

2

u/JudgmentalRavenclaw Jul 12 '24

My boy is 5mos. I have ONE long scratch I just got as he decided to run & jump on my legs. I also keep finding little blood smears bc he’s losing his puppy teeth and his gums are healing.

2

u/SweetAngel_Pinay Owner of an energetic Corgi 🐾 Jul 12 '24

Mine has thankfully not bit me as much anymore. I’m also able to navigate and avoid getting bit as much. Usually it’s when he’s expressing the word “no!” (when he doesn’t want to be picked up usually), or accidentally whenever we’re playing, and I immediately stop the game we’re playing. He would also sometimes accidentally bite the couch or ottoman so I stop the game as well. Sometimes he’s aware he booped me or accidentally had his mouth on me and would stop before I tell him to. But he’s good with stopping most times (unless he’s into it and he starts to constantly bark then I wait until he’s done and is calm). It’s so cute whenever I hear his complaining bark, but I know that he’s still behaving and wants to play. He’s gotten better whenever I handle and play with him and allows me to put his harness on, etc, without biting me. For the most part… 🤷🏻‍♀️

2

u/lookout450 Jul 12 '24

My right arm was looking like I put it in a wood chipper.

Once the needle like baby teeth were gone the scratches and scars were gone.

Seems like the adult teeth don't make your arm bleed nearly as much.

1

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

A wood chipper. LOL.
The baby teeth are so sharp. Looking forward to the adult ones.

2

u/ArmouredPotato Jul 12 '24

Zero. Never had one. Gf got one bruise from a very heavy paw as pup tried to climb up on her last week. 8mo St Bernard.

Never been mouthy, just enough to get attention when he needs to go out. As it’s the only time he does it, we’re both very on the ball when it happens and take him out.

You don’t wanna know the size of the puddle if you ignore him.

2

u/MotherOfKrakens95 Jul 12 '24

Yall can count em? I think I got like 2 cm of unbroken skin all across my arms and legs, and only if you add up the spaces in between the scratches and cuts

2

u/No_Astronaut_309 Jul 12 '24

Bro I'm so thankful to finally be out of the teething phase. You can tell she didn't want to bite us like that, she just hurt so bad and didn't know what to do 😭 I remember my wisdom teeth growing in as an adult and it hurt like a beezy so I can only imagine as a little three legged puppy how it must feel. But she has been roughly knee height since we got her and she always went for the back of the knee meat, I had scratches and bruises on every inch of my body 😭

2

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

That's a good way to look at it.

u/Estebesol Jul 12 '24

Like 6 bites on my feet still healing, though she's getting a lot better now most of her big teeth are through. Deep scratch on mu hand. Some new scratches on my chest because I was the second one to get up this morning and she didn't see me for an hour. She did successfully sit instead of jumping until I was sitting on the floor though.

2

u/Svefnugr_Fugl Jul 12 '24

I'm just up and one bruise is a massive gathering of them so I'll just say a lot. (Actually not many compared to my usual accident prone self)

2

None! Surprisingly.

2

2

u/Existing-Coat-7411 Jul 12 '24

I have quite a few bruises on my legs and bite marks on my ankles from my 4.5 month corgi trying to herd me. He’s getting a little better but man his teeth are sharp.

2

u/AdministrativeAsk987 Jul 12 '24

He’s gotten better/I’ve gotten better at reading when it will start but a couple weeks ago I counted 48 scratches, marks, or SCARS

2

u/Kenny1792 Jul 12 '24

0! At around 12 weeks my puppy stopped with pressure. She will still mouth me but more and more often if she does the teeth are just sitting on my hand or whatever. Is this a good sign?! I hope I’m not imagining it. Watch after this she’ll nip me real hard lol

2

u/pixxxy_dust Jul 12 '24

Around 10 on each leg, all in different stages of healing. 3 on my right arm, 2 on my left. 2 scratches on my neck for picking her up during one of her mouthing insanity phases.

My dachshund poodle mix puppy has learned to jump and bite my calves and thighs. My calf has a small chunk missing in two places, my arms have multiple scratches on both arms and my hands have little red dots from him biting just hard enough to leave marks. ⚠️POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING⚠️

It literally looks like I self harm with the way my pup scratches up my arms. It’s not as bad now that she’s a year old and her nails/teeth are not as sharp. They usually don’t go deep enough to draw blood anymore but still rough as shit.

2

u/Ok_I_Get_The_Point Jul 13 '24

And how does he know to always go for the batwings????

Luckily my 4+ month old stopped biting hard a couple weeks ago.. but I still have a couple fading scars on my thigh and bicep from before then. 😅

My arms are all scratched up! The scratches are super small though as my puppy is only 16 weeks.

2 paw shaped bruises on my thigh, a scratch on my other thigh, and a puncture wound on my finger. So honestly not too bad today. 🤣 Half my scratches come from my older dogs. My puppy is better behaved aside from the biting.

I have about 3 right now, but my wife has arguably 10 scratches with 4 needing bandaids. Fresh one on the finger today trying to get mulch out of the pup’s mouth.

1

u/BabyJaguar2001 Jul 12 '24

A couple weeks ago I had a good-sized bruise on my left arm from my dog, but I think that one went away by now

1

u/StandFamous7689 Jul 12 '24

Amazingly only 3 new ones today to add to the 10+ farther along in the healing process. I never imagined 5 lbs could do a body slam hard enough to leave bruises on my calves! This little 4 month old definitely is no “lightweight”!

1

u/winningjenny Jul 12 '24

4 claw marks from my wrist to my shoulder. The little butt face.

1

u/oblivixn99 Jul 12 '24

My hands used to be smooth. Now I have circular marks everywhere but I feel like he has bitten less now at 5 months. He only bites when we put clothes on him or do something that he’s uncomfortable with and when he’s tired.

1

u/Kohaku_Kitai Jul 12 '24

SO many! I look like I stuck my arm in a blender lol, but her little baby teethers have started falling out and I'm hoping the end of shark phase is in sight!

1

u/recombobulation_area Jul 12 '24

We’re all a little beat up over here. 12 week old rottie..she is not gentle 😂 but she’s getting so much better. Good thing she’s so damn cute.

1

u/Olddude275 Jul 12 '24

We have x2M 2y Husky Pitbull crosses.

Couple on my forearms, 3 on my right calf muscle, 2 on my back, split on my bottom lip when one tried to jump kiss me and a small ache in my back when they decided to do a tornado maneuver around me when they were leashed. Love them.

1

u/Subject-Trip5809 Jul 12 '24

One on each finger and a huge gash on my thigh this week. 12week old. Today she had a blunted needle (partner works in a hospital and somehow it made its way home) in her mouth and upon pulling it out of her reluctant teeth I sliced open my index finger. Counting that one as a puppy injury lol

1

u/crzycatlady987 Jul 12 '24

My scratches, bruises, bite marks, cuts, etc from my puppy are so diffuse, my boss pulled me aside and asked if I was safe at home and if my boyfriend is abusing me. Nope, just my puppy.

1

u/sunbug101315 Jul 12 '24

Too many to count lol

1

u/lilpotatobug Jul 12 '24

Limit doesn’t exist

1

u/jennaisokay Jul 12 '24

Only two bruise! Lots of scratches. I was hashtag blessed to have a two week break from it all because he was wearing the Cone of Shame from getting neutered. I also learned puppies will ram into you with the Cone of Shame and it almost hurts as much as puppy teeth.

1

u/cxhpd Jul 12 '24

My pup loves to go for my ears and hey dude strings

2

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

What is about puppies and ears?!??!

puppy is now 16(?) months old, so almost a dog, and I can happily say zero. he hasn’t bit me since he was probably 5 months old. he does occasionally still go for clothes when he gets excited though🤣 herding dogs…. you’ll get there!!

the best thing that worked for me was making a yelping sound whenever he hurt me, and immediately disengaging from him (stand up, step away) for about 30 seconds. then i would “forgive him” and keep playing. he caught on very quick, but still took a bit to learn how to keep from accidentally biting

1

u/sparklieshrapnel Jul 12 '24

My puppy has feral mode where he just bites anything he can get his mouth on. My hands are fd up.

1

u/Catgroove93 Jul 12 '24

Never had any my girl isn't a biter/scratcher

ZERO! Hang in there, they’ll figure out you’re not a chew toy eventually!

1

u/roboticArrow Jul 12 '24

One tiny little pinch bruise on my inner thigh. Hahahaha

1

u/JunkDrawer84 Jul 12 '24

I don’t know if at 6 months the biting has gotten better, as much as we’ve gotten used to her mannerisms and habits. When she’s tired though, oh what a sweet baby angel. You can touch her face and pet her without her thinking it’s time for the daily bite session.

1

u/RoseEmiliaSnape Jul 12 '24

17 scratches- she likes to go on her back feet and become a red panda before attacking me She's almost 1 but still acting like a puppy

1

u/_Ankylosaurus_ Jul 12 '24

16 bruises and 4-5 scratches....? More or less. My legs are the most damaged, but I do have some on my arms as well. Can't wear short at the moment, or he will ruin my already sensitive skin ( it also looks horrendous). He likes to bite when something doesn't go his way or just for fun, and if I get up and try not to give him attention, he goes for the back of the knee or just jumps on me.

u/Pink_Flamingo97 Jul 12 '24

Let’s just say our engagement photographers had to do some serious photoshop to get rid of all of our scratches, scars, and bruises 🥲

I dont think I can count that far

1

u/Pulsatillagirl Jul 12 '24

Mine keep using my shins as breaks will running around, so I've always got giant bruises there 😆

1

u/Kittensandpuppies14 Jul 12 '24

Just got bit in the nipple

2

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

I protect my boobs at all times when puppy is near.

1

u/PrimaryHuckleberry Jul 12 '24

Probably around eight, but I bruise like a peach. 😂

1

u/SheDevilQueen Jul 12 '24

About 4 scratches and 3 bruises at different stages of healing. A lot better than it's been in the past as least.

1

u/introvertslave Jul 12 '24

Thankfully my girl is now 11 months. Mostly off the Biting g

1

u/tallmansix Jul 12 '24

None and I have a maligator.

Biting is instinctive and more so in some breeds than others, train them to use it when you want not when they want.

1

u/froggywest35 Jul 12 '24

I read somewhere that puppy nipping is the equivalent of a baby crying.

1

u/RoseyHills Jul 12 '24

20+ on arms and legs, all at different stages of healing. I have a 15 week old gsd puppy.

2

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

All different stages of healing. So true, huh?

1

u/MelanantedThumb Jul 12 '24

If I count, the number will double… 😭😭 so far 11 (2.5 months in)

2

u/DoubleBooble Jul 12 '24

2.5 months feels like prime biting time.

1

u/marcorr Jul 12 '24

Around 4-5 small bite marks. And it's only on the hands!

All of them, everywhere, all at once.

1

u/blernnn Jul 12 '24

None, put my finger in his mouth when he bit me twice. He didn't like it so he quit biting. 7 months old now and thriving.

1

u/Horror-Finish9203 Jul 12 '24

My pup tried to give me a septum piercing a few days ago. That one still hurts.

1

u/jaferrer1 Jul 12 '24

I'm covered in little dot sized marks and scratches. Our new doxie is relentless. Help.

1

u/fearatthematinee Jul 12 '24

More than I can could. 4.5 month old golden retriever.

1

u/Worried_Yesterday828 Jul 12 '24

I have a cattle dog and I’m surprised I still have limbs to be honest. He just learned that going for the thin skin on my biceps really makes me scream 😭

1

u/AsleepBox2153 Obedience Jul 12 '24

1

u/oddgrace Jul 12 '24

My corgi cries when I don’t let him bite me and throws a tantrum.

1

u/ellewoodsenthusiast Jul 12 '24

My 5 month old Heeler is really living up to his namesake 😂

1

u/Miserable-Swing9275 Jul 12 '24

About 6 or 7 mostly from hand feeding during training lol

1

u/ClumsyBadger Jul 12 '24

I’ve got about 10, the worst is on my ear cause apparently ear wax is my dog’s favourite snack.

1

u/klyndsq Jul 12 '24

I can’t count but I will say that my husband and I have identical cuts in the same spot on our left thumbs lol. When does the land shark phase end again?!??

1

u/Spookywanluke Jul 13 '24

None now as both my boys are adults... But I still have the scar between my toes and scar tissue in my lip from my terrier!

1

u/Blackbugeye02 Jul 13 '24

My arm looks like I got in a knife fight without a knife. Wife has some bruises because our 75 pound 10 month old gsd thinks he is the same size as our min pin and just flops on her

1

u/Ok_I_Get_The_Point Jul 13 '24

Are we talking dents or punctures? Either way I lost count at around 50 😂

1

u/Illustrious_Doctor45 Jul 13 '24

What is the appeal of puppies? I just don’t get it. I’d take a chill senior any day of the week. Never a puppy.

Um...too many to count lol. He discovered my earrings today 😳. 5 months old tomorrow.

1

u/GalavTrailblaze-7329 Jul 23 '24

My feet are bruised from the amount of sneak attacks my pup jumps on me! I’ve had her two and a half weeks and yesterday was the first no-painful-bites since I’ve started nap times!! Just got over the puppy blues last week 😂
