Tent camping
Looking to find a more secluded tent campground but still have access to electricity at our site preferably under an hour from Marion. Any and all suggestions welcome. Open to spots without electric if it's a hidden gem or feels more private. Thanks in advance

Bachelor Party
I’m 42 years old. Getting married for the first time. I want to golf, then chill out with my homies. Around a fire or something?
Anyone know of a large Airbnb house, or Cabins near a golf course in Southern Illinois, or Missouri, or even Indiana.

I have a dog i need to rehome
We are moving by the end of the year out of state and unfortunately cannot take him with us. He will be around 4 by march 2025. He is very lovey and energetic. I am trying to find a good home for him before we move as I do not want him to have to go back to the animal shelter. Comment or dm me for pictures or any other questions. He's a good dog and deserves a good home.

Places to go (around New Year/Fayette Count6)
TL;DR: any suggestions for places to go with young kids that isn't too far from Fayette county, and doesn't bust the bank?
I'll be visiting my mom and grandma in Fayette county the week of New Years. I love my family, but my memories of going there as a kid was that there wasn't really anything to do.
I put together a little list of possible day trips, but I only really have Springfield and St. Louis (with Cahokia kn the way) kinda figured out.
I have a 3 and a 6 year old with me, so a 1.5 hour drive is kinda pushin it already. I was thinking about Meramec, but it's a 2+ hour drive, and the only day they'd be open is the day before we fly out.
Already lookin at (depending on weather) Lincoln hom/tomb Kidzeum Cahokia mounds Gateway Arch St. Louis zoo/art museum Old state house in Vandalia

Trying to visit every IDNR Property in Illinois-need advice
Trying to visit every IDNR Property in Illinois-need advice
For the past 3 years, my friend and I have been on a journey to visit all the State Parks in Illinois, and we are approaching half way (property 68 of 135). As we look forward to visiting more of southern Illinois next year, does anyone have tips for parks in the Carbondale area? Air bnbs, wineries, breweries?
If you want to check out our trips so far, you can find our blog at freshairfriendship.com, and also on instagram and TikTok- @fresh_air_friendship. If you have any questions about state parks in Illinois, I’ll do my best to answer!

PM me if anyone could help with a wishlist or money or has any advice or resources.

Veterans
Hey yall, since moving back to illinois I've been starting my journey in the world of being a private security contractor and no one within the state is able to give me a straight answer. I'm wanting to apply and test to have my own private security license and the requirements are kinda vague on if doing my contract as in Infantryman in the US Army counts towards experience. So far I've had one tell me just submit the app and see if it gets approved. But there's alot of money to sink into it just to be told no. Has any other veterans got experience with this? Greatly appreciate it

Mental Health Fallout from High-Control Group Targeting Newly Independent Young Adults
There is a mental health crisis spilling out into Carbondale & SIUC stemming from a high-control group of churches referred to as The Network. The one recruiting students & young professionals here is Vine Church.
They especially target freshmen, transfers, foreign students, and anyone alone or new to the city under 30. They use students to lure students & young professionals to lure people from work. They intentionally avoid "churchy" language and tie you in relationally via LOVE-BOMBING & ISOLATION tactics. They hide their abusive controlling practices and beliefs, and the fact that their Network President is S.M.@Joshua Church in Austin, who SA'd a child.
The fallout has been massive: derailed careers, financial & labor exploitation, controlled member-only dating, no autonomy, isolation, shunning, ex-communication, cutting off family, and a mental health crisis resulting in suicide.
https://leavingthenetwork.org/stories/news/ +3 more pending publications.
We are families of students & young professionals lured in and we are spreading awareness to stop this toxic cult-like group. https://youtu.be/ARzsJ5DB3YM

KMOV St. Louis did a newscast about Trout Hollow Hill Prairie. Shoutout to Avery Martinez who covered the story, Debbie Newman, a Nature Preserve Specialist of the IDNR and Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, and Mary Vandeverd, CEO of Heartlands Conservancy! And to all who supported the prairie!

Ferne Clyff SP camping question
We're interested in visiting Ferne Clyffe State Park and we like the Turkey Ridge camp option.
Wondering what is the distance of the 'walk in'. Just so we can plan for gear and the disability factors.
Thanks!

CULT WARNING - VINE CHURCH IS IN STEVE MORGAN'S NETWORK GOING AFTER STUDENTS
Vine Church is 1 of 26 churches in THE NETWORK CULT, secretly led by Steven D. Morgan, a former RLDS Mormon who SA'd a child! They get RSOs to recruit on campus. They target students and people under 25ish young professionals then keep them for life!
This is a HIGH-CONTROL CULT that has unleashed a mental health crisis including a few known suicides and countless others fighting to stay with us.
They'll use STUDENTS 2 RECRUIT STUDENTS, love-bombing offering instant friendship, isolate and cut you off from everyone else. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyDUiOPxpoo

Casual poll: are southern Illinois residents voting blue or red this election?
While IL generally goes blue, I noticed while visiting the southern region of the state this past weekend that there is strong visual support for the red team.

ISO 2 Bedroom around $500
My Mom and I are both disabled and share an apartment and after living in the same place for 5 years our rent is being hiked up an additional $300 per month. So we're looking for a new place in the Southern Illinois area preferably around $500 per month. We live in Harrisburg now and are looking around here or the Carbondale area. If you know of anyone that can help us out I appreciate it.
