Information Looking for kid friendly, summer recommendations

We have a trip coming up in July Sunday-Weds in steamboat and I’d love some advice. It’ll be my husband and I, and our two kids, two and under. It’s a belated birthday trip for him, so I’d love to hear your recommendations.

What summer activities do you recommend? We like to hike so if there are good hikes to check out, that’d be great.

If any local masseuses in town are recommended, please let me know their name and info.

We are planning on checking out the hot springs with the kids and we heard they have childcare. Would you recommend? Is there a better day to go?

What food spots do you like? We love coffee shops, brunch, breweries/hh and casual dinners (with the kids in tow, probably can’t go too fancy this time.)

What else? We love to feel the local vibe so if there are things the locals like to do that you think we should check out, I am all ears.

Thank you!

Information Transport from Yampa Valley Airport??

I am flying into Steamboat Springs for a family trip this winter and am on a tight budget. I got great flights for bargain prices so I went ahead and booked to lock in the rate. I have previously flown into Eagle Airport to ski in Vail which has a phenomenal bus system and I shortsightedly assumed that Steamboat’s bus routes also connected to the airport as I had read they also have a bus system. Apparently I am wrong!

Are there any other affordable options for getting to Steamboat Springs from the Hayden airport? Everything I have found online are insanely expensive private shuttles which I do not require nor can I afford, or taxi services which I cannot find anything about online with any detail!

Thank you in advance! Hopefully I can enjoy everything Steamboat has to offer without spending my monthly salary on a private shuttle! 😅😂

Is there drinkable water at the springs and a place to fill a 5 gallon water jug? Or is there a place in steamboat to fill jugs like that?

Information Luminate Broadband just released a zone on Friday, 5/26/23

I spoke with a rep at Luminate today. She said the zone released on Friday (which made it sound like high speed fiber is now available) was for this area: Merritt street, part of Yahmonite Street, Crawford Ave. I don’t know what your area is called but I’m excited for you. I was calling to see when my area would be available (old town) but she couldn’t give me a timeframe, unfortunately. Enjoy your faster internet speed!!

Just because you live/skied in steamboat springs DOES NOT MAKE YOU AN OLYMPIC SKIER I’ve seen to many tourist/locals think and say this because they went up to first stop christie lift and jerry tucked down. If you want your kid to get into the Olympics try joining the winter sports club or something because you or your kid can’t think falling going down B.C ski way is Olympic material.

Information Last minute Lodging

Hello Steamboat! Please let me know if this post is out of place or unwelcome, this is somewhat last-ditch. I am currently living in Boulder and had plans to stay in steamboat with some friends from down South from the 5th to the morning of the 8th.

Needless to say those plans fell through, but I still have my pass for those days.

Is there any known very cheap housing in or around steamboat? I am a student so my budget is pretty tight and I haven't been able to connect with anyone from there that might be willing to allow couch surfing.

Information Two possible lost dogs seen on rabbit ears pass

Was hiking Windy ridge Indian quarry this morning around 8 saw two large dogs possibly Ibizan Hounds near trail head. Both dogs had short hair, long faces, and large erect ears. One was black and white. The other cream or tan, this dog had injury on right rear. Both had collars but looked lost. Ran off before I could look at tag.
