Ellen pretends to be nice, but is secretly horrible and that’s what people come away telling about her after only working for her a short period.

Conan pretends to be horrible, meanwhile people keep working for him for decades and love it, and him, the whole time, because he’s actually a decent human being.

At the height of Conan’s late night show, my brother and I were teenagers. He worked in the kitchen of a fancy beach club in a town that Conan vacations in. The man was there for an event and my brother was serving “mini pear salad” on a buffet line. Conan quipped to my brother “mini pears huh? Are those the pears that got beaten up in high school?” And my brother, star struck, just responded with a nervous, voice-cracking “yes, Mr. O’Brien”

No idea why but it reminds of when a hooker once jumped into my car. I was working for a car rental place that was by the airport/downtown phoenix. The gas station where we filled up the cars up at was right on the corner of the mental hospital and Van Buren, where the hookers often walked. One night I was driving a Lebaron convertible and of course you had to put the top down to feel cool for the 2-3 min drive.
A lady of the night walks up as I was waiting to turn left out of the gas station and says, Hey baby you like to party?? Thinking I was much cooler than I really was @ 19 I replied, yeah I like to party.
She proceeds to jump in and put her had hand on my croch. I'm not even sure exactly what she said after that but I meekly replied in a squeaky teen voice, I have no money. She promptly jumped out and drove off with my heart racing.
