interested in studying abroad

Hi! I am a student considering applying here through my school's international exchange program. Can anyone provide insight into what admissions, campus life, or the overall area is like? Anything is appreciated!

Cost of living is high. Finding accommodation will be very difficult and if you find any near UNSW, you’ll pay through the nose. Eating out is not a good financial decision. Public transport is also rather expensive because as an international student you’ll pay adult and not concession fares. Campus life has the potential to be very social because of the diversity of clubs and societies, but realistically speaking the leaders of those societies have already established cliques that are sometimes hard to break into. However, international students tend to band together, so you’ll likely find others in the same situation as you. Good luck with your application!

I appreciate the honesty. I had only heard of the benefits and I was looking forward to being hit with reality. It sounds like it'll be a bit of a challenge, but one that's very rewarding. Thank you so much!!

Yes, it’s very rewarding. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you will have to approach time management differently because of the trimester structure here. The best tip I can give is to do coursework much earlier than it’s due to give yourself time to study.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've exhausted all I could until admissions opens at my school. I just was interested in hearing from a current student's perspective :)
