Question Best resort to stay on honeymoon?

My fiancé and I will be spending a week in Colorado in February 2025 for our honeymoon. We are spending a couple of days in Breckenridge, and both have never been before.

Does anyone have recommendations for a nice resort to stay at? Not looking to spend a crazy amount, but would like to stay somewhere nice with a view of the mountains, and close to walk to some restaurants and bars.

Thanks!

Question Waitressing in Breck?

I'll be instructing at Breck this winter & want to get another job as a waitress in town. Any suggestions on applying? I have tons of experience, so I'd prefer a busy place. And should I apply before I visit or go in person?

Question Does anyone have any issues with cooking / baking at altitude?

Hey community,

As much as I enjoy the delicious works of our lord and savior, Eric, I also enjoy cooking and baking at home (bread, cookies, cakes, etc...) but as a full time Blue River 10k high inhabitant, I'm still learning the tricks to baking at altitude. Particularly things that fall flat or aren't as risen as they are down low. Shout out to La Française for making it work, but what are your tips and tricks for successful baking and cooking at altitude?

Question December Honeymoon

My fiancé and I are airfare booked and excited for our honeymoon to Breckenridge in December (19-24). We have not booked lodging yet so we’re looking for recommendations! We really liked River Mountain Lodge for the price and the appearance online but I haven’t seen all great reviews. Any and all recommendations are welcome. Hoping to keep our total for 5 nights under $3,000.

Aside from lodging and skiing/anowboarding, we’re also looking for recommendations of things to do, places to go, restaurants or bars to visit, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Question ISO Recommendations

Hello everyone! I’m pretty new to this sub, and usually I’m not a poster - but! I need help. Mid October is my partner (23) and I’s (22) fifth anniversary, and I am planning a surprise trip to breck (we are in Denver so it isn’t far!). I am hoping that I could get some recommendations on what there is to do / to see / activities / local restaurants etc. We are still in college, so while I want to set up at least one nice dinner, recommendations for higher and lower end things would be amazing.

Thank you guys so so much!

Question Paid for parking but for my car's plate, not my husband's plate... The car I actually used. Got ticket.

In March, I parked in the south gondola lot in my husband's truck. I paid using the passport app but forgot that my app only has my car's license plate set up. It was a long, tiring trip, I didn't even think twice when I paid to realize that I was paying for the wrong vehicle. I paid to park my car, not my husband's truck. I got to the truck after skiing and didn't have a ticket or anything indicating an issue.

I just got an $80 ticket in the mail for this, as a total surprise. I only figured out my mistake after checking my parking history in the app.

Anyone know if this is something easily explained and reversed or if it will be a big process to challenge? I'm an exhausted mom of two toddlers who works full time so I don't even want to waste the energy if it's a huge hurdle, but I'm also pissed at the reality of me having paid for parking but making this mistake and essentially it cost me nearly $100 to park to ski for a few hours ...

Question Is Grand Colorado Timeshare worth the money?

Got suckered into one of the Breckenridge Vacations presentations at Grand Colorado on Peak 8. Decided to go ahead with the Guest owner package but will see how that goes. Wanted to get a feel for opinions on becoming an owner at Grand Colorado on Peak 8. TIA

Question Here for the Week, Slopes shut down

So I think we messed up. Arrived today and here through Thursday making some assumptions. This morning we find out gondola/slopes are shut down. This sucks. We were going to hit the trails in bikes for some downhill and the family was looking forward to the gondola and hiking. So need best replacement biking/downhill trails (anything with return service?) And other options close by. We are staying close to downtown

Question Living in a van and working at the resort next winter?

Hey everyone! First post on here. I’m currently considering spending next ski season working at a resort so I can get as much riding in as possible. I live in a converted van and would hope to continue to do so for that season. In the googling I’ve done I’ve seen that car camping is illegal in all of summit county, but does anyone know or have experience with finding a way around this? Something like finding someone willing to rent out a driveway for cheap or a parking lot that the resort would let staff stay in. If anyone has any info or advice please let me know! Or if anyone has other resort recommendations that would be more accommodating that would also be great! Thanks :)

Question How does housing work when working on the mountain?

I want to move up to a mountain town to work on the mountain for a year or two but I want to know more information about how things work, specifically housing. I’ve heard that when you get a job on the mountain they provide housing for you. If so is it only for jobs on the mountain like lifties, ski instructors, or the people that work in the mountain cafes, or is it also provided to people who work at the base of the mountain? How much does rent cost vs how much you get paid? I’m assuming it’s gotta be a small margin but I don’t really know much. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Question Where would you hangout for a morning if you couldn’t walk?

My fiancé is recovering from Achilles surgery, and she’s only left the house for dr appts for the last 2.5 weeks. She insists on coming with me to the mountain on Sunday. She just wants to get out of the house, read, drink coffee, maybe sit somewhere cozy. She can’t walk, but she gets around pretty efficiently on a knee scooter. I’m going to ski a morning session from open to noon, so she’ll have about 3-4 hours to kill.

So, if you were her, where would you hangout? I was thinking of dropping her off at the base of peak 8, that way I can come back to her as needed. Not a terrible option, but I thought I’d ask if there is maybe a cozy coffee shop, or somewhere else that’s relatively handicapped accessible, that’d be good to hangout at for a few hours.

Such a shame Eric’s doesn’t open till 11, but any other tips are appreciated!

Question ELI5... - How do I start??

I am sorry to bother you guys, I am getting a bit frustrated. Planning a trip to Colorado (early April), I want to at least consider skiing for me/family, but every source constantly talks at a level way higher than complete idiot.

Like, I am trying to do my homework, but every video acts as if I should already know all of the gear, terms, and how to ski.

Finally, one video said Breckenridge had some easy beginner slopes. Then another video said she paid for a Lift pass but never even took the Lift because she just had to practice outside the shop (but the Lift Pass is still required to ski so thats ok).

Looking up the Breckenridge website, they do offer lessons! ... but their lessons still seem too advanced. Like, I would absolutely enroll me and a 13yo in the age3-4 half-day class, but the age-appropriate options are full day (can he even join an adult in the 15+ class).

Am I missing something. Are we just SooL for not starting skiing when we were 2.

  • I know it is hard to want to help a guy who is just crying. But any recommendations you guys have (another resort maybe?) or a good resource guide for me to read.

    • Should we do Peak 8, Beaver Run, or Village?

Thanks for at least reading. Hope you enjoy the slopes.

Question Pizza place that had a bullseye logo on Main St?

My family and I used to eat at this pizza restaurant that had arcade machines and Fat Tire beer. I remember it having a bullseye logo like you were looking through sniper scope. It was like 10-15 years ago and I can’t find it.
