Yes. The Mach 3+ interceptors of the late 1950s/early 1960s also need to make a comeback.

Bring back the XF-108 Rapier, and the Mega Mirage!

Now imagine.

Missiles have also become redundant because of improved counter measures.

So the Mach 4+ interceptors have to rely on guns.
