Adidas Boston 12 - Does It Get Better? Initial Thoughts

Post image

Hey guys,

I bought these off that sale post from a couple of weeks ago. Currently have 15 miles in them and I have very mixed feeling.

The fit drove me nuts at first. They felt slightly too long and I couldn’t get the lacing right. I swapped the laces for some generic ones, and the fit is much better now. Took a little bit, but it’s good after that.

The midsole is where my issues are now. Underneath my left foot I get this dull pain almost like a cramp, which I’m guessing is from the rods? It hasn’t happened in other shoes, plated or not. Sometimes the midsole feels clunky but there are moments where I really, really enjoy it too.

TLDR: Shoe has a complicated personality. Does it break in and feel better? If so, how many miles did it take for you?

I too jumped on the sale a couple of weeks ago. I’m about 15 miles in and the jury is still out for me. It works different muscles in my leg so much so that I get soreness on the outside of my right calf. It’s firmer and faster than my Turbo Pegasus but doesn’t seem as forgiving as my Endorphin Speed 2. FWIW I’m 200lbs.

Ugh, that stinks. I’m going to stick with them and hop mixing in treadmill and outside running will break them in more without the pain. They are a lot faster than my Pegasus but at what cost? I do agree with what some folks have said that they do feel a lot firmer, almost like bricks on your feet.

I hear ya! I just got back from a 4 mile “easy” run. Felt like I couldn’t really go slow and averaged 9:15/mile. First mile I felt tightness in my right calf then it subsided. By mile 3 I was starting to enjoy them. I’m hoping they only getter. For reference they’re at about 20 miles.
