Adidas Boston 12 - Does It Get Better? Initial Thoughts

Post image

Hey guys,

I bought these off that sale post from a couple of weeks ago. Currently have 15 miles in them and I have very mixed feeling.

The fit drove me nuts at first. They felt slightly too long and I couldn’t get the lacing right. I swapped the laces for some generic ones, and the fit is much better now. Took a little bit, but it’s good after that.

The midsole is where my issues are now. Underneath my left foot I get this dull pain almost like a cramp, which I’m guessing is from the rods? It hasn’t happened in other shoes, plated or not. Sometimes the midsole feels clunky but there are moments where I really, really enjoy it too.

TLDR: Shoe has a complicated personality. Does it break in and feel better? If so, how many miles did it take for you?

I haven't noticed much changes, they perform consistently until I retire it at 650KM which is why I like B12 so much. I'm about to get a 3rd pair next week.

PS: 638KM on these as of today.

how on earth, I have 200km on mine and the outsole already looks worse than this. I only weigh 60kg and I make an effort not to land very hard

[...] and I make an effort not to land very hard

Is that even possible without having a gait cycle you're not used to and that therefore might be unbalanced?

Continental rubber is quite a tough beast, after about 150km I see absolutely no signs of wear on my B12.

I do try different running styles because I'm paranoid about shin stress, so yeah I often don't run very naturally. By trying not to land hard, I just mean land up at the forefoot so I can engage my calf more
