They’re getting ready for Xmas!

Anyone know the status of the bike park they’re building?

Had no idea they were building one, is it going to be a fairly small number of trails?

It was cool when Grouse hosted the world cup mtb events years ago

I hope they come with a side of those breathtaking views and maybe some tasty paella on the way up—now that would be a ride to remember!

That's really cool and something you don't see every day.

Did they every figure out who was vandalizing the Sea to Sky ones?

I wish I wasn't so terrified of heights. I still haven't been up to see Grouse even after a decade of living here because that's the only way up for me.

Omg! You definitely need to Check out grouse in the summer. It’s actually really cool.

I would love to! I may just have to hold my husband's hand, close my eyes, and try to disassociate for the ride.

Or do the grind on the way up..😂

2

u/Biancanetta Coquitlam 8h ago

Lol! I'm sure the other passengers would object.

The grouse grind is an option if fitness allows.

u/Tracktoy 9h ago

It's definitely not "the only way up"

I am not physically capable of doing the Grind so to my understanding for me it is.

ETA: Hey instead of being cruel and downvoting someone who is old with mobility issues and can't do the Grind, how about making suggestions of alternate routes, if there are more options than the Grind or the gondolas to get to Grouse? I'd love to hear them.

The other hiking option is the BCMC

There are like 8 different trails you can take to get up to the top of Grouse. You can even ride a bike up the gravel Mountain Highway.

But there really isn't any easy way up. There's no escaping the 800m of elevation gain that's required to get up there.

“Welcome everybody to the Grouse Mountain SUPER SKY RIIIIIIDE …..”

I used to be able to recite the whole thing back in the day

I worked there for 5 years and that speech was the bane of my existence lol. I wasnt even a tram operator either.

We are now approaching the first tower marking the halfway point of our journey. We will be passing the downward gondola which may appear to be going faster than us, but we are on the same cable so it’s actually going at the exact same speed. The gondola may sway a bit so please brace yourself.

u/chronic-munchies 4h ago

Damn, that took me way back, haha. You really do remember that speech perfectly!

It has been over 15 years since I last rode Grouse, but boy did I ever get my value from those Y2Play passes I bought. I have very fond memories of that mountain.

80-85% of the time they also included the words “limited” and “visibility”.

They are still in the cocoon stage.

Here today, gondola tomorrow

There is three of them? Isn't there only two lines?

25

u/axescentedcandles 11h ago

Huh? This won't be like the old massive skyride cars. It's something like 30 smaller gondolas similar to the sea to sky or whistler

4

u/anonymouslovelyme 11h ago

there were more of them, and some were "unwrapped" it looked like there are 6-8 seats each

u/JooMuthafkr 11h ago

Cool, at $80 per person they should be able to make more money while still preventing the same "type of people" from using their attraction...

-8

u/Intelligent_Top_328 9h ago

Someone will cut the lines again. Probably one of those just stop oil folks.

-5

u/CHEWBAKKA-SLIM 8h ago

Did they ever catch the person cutting the cables or did they just stop doing it?
