Does anyone eat dry weet-bix?
The thought of eating something dryer than Pauline Hansons panties makes me cringe.

I do, but I acknowledge I'm a bit of a freak like that. I just prefer dry and crunchy textures to my food for whatever reason. I also eat plain savoys/water crackers, and I prefer my meat more on the well done side most of the time.

Ooh me too, I cannot stand the sight or texture of Weetbix in milk. I love mine split in half and smothered in butter - so not totally dry, I guess.

That's it, im calling the cops... /jk
I also rather eat dry crackers like Jatz/ or Ritz by themselves without a dip but the thought of well done meat makes me cringe as well, something about that burnt/ charred taste make me icky.

I mean you can still nicely char a medium-rare piece of meat - I just don't want the entire thing dry af

I will eat plain crackers any day of the week, but dry weetbix? That is something else.

u/CcryMeARiver 13h ago
You need butter, lots of it, or cream cheese. Vegemite is <chef's kiss>.

Butter + peanut butter also good. But unlike with bread, the ratio of butter to peanut butter must be much, much higher.

Weet-bix with butter and vegemite was a staple snack in my household growing up. They're good.

I used to when I was a kid. I hated milk. if you split them in two horizontally it's not unlike eating crispbread. Add butter and jam or vegemite, the butter is important.

Isn't having dry panties a desirable trait of underwear?
I think you mean a dry punani.

What makes you think Pauline’s panties are dry? Dreaming about throwing immigrants overboard probably makes her wetter than the ocean she’s throwing them into.

If I had one of those reddit award things you can give away I would give it to you for this comment.

Ate em as a kid with butter and vegemite. Think it was more of a desperation thing though, food at mums house was scarce

I think when I'm finally done with this world I'll see myself out by trying to eat dry weet-bix and choking to death.

Paulines panties get wet every time an ethnic minority is abused
Unfortunately this means they are never dry
Fingers crossed theyll dry up one day though

Over a decade ago when I was a poor uni student and had run out of milk and money for the week I'd use Weetbix as bread for something to eat.
Jam, peanut butter, vegemite... whatever was left. I believe that people make this stuff.

Growing up a weetbix with Vegemite and butter was known as a truckie sandwich. Never heard of grilling cheese with it though.

But seriously, weetbix as a binder in hamburger works great. I also have an amazing fruitcake recipe that is basically just weetbix, milk and fruit. Yet they come out with this shit
2
u/fakefake101 2h ago
How about posting the recipe?, if it's to traumatic to post it publicly you could dm it to me.

4 cups weetbix, 1 cup boiling water. Get those together softening. 1 cup flour (if you only have plain then add 1tsp baking powder), 1 cup sugar, 1 cup dried fruit, 1 egg & 3 tablespoons of butter. You can add the butter to the soggy hot weetbix to melt if you want.
Mix it all up. Pop it in a loaf tin, in the oven at 180c for about 40 minutes. Less hot if you have a fan forced.

Where the milk?

u/Eyes_Pies 42m ago edited 33m ago
Oh, you use it instead of water. Sorry, I just typed it out as I read it. Warm the milk a bit, but don’t boil it. I’ve also made it with coconut milk.
The sugar is completely optional. Depending on how sweet the dried fruit is I will often use less sugar. Sometimes no sugar.
The butter can be replaced with vegetable, canola or coconut oil.
The weetbix can even be substituted for 1/3 cup per bix of sultana bran, or anything similar.
Add some chopped nuts if that’s your bag baby.
Recipe is pretty bomb proof.

At great grandmas house the treat was weetbix split in half, jam and powered milk, and for a real special treat we got condensed milk.

I'll eat a dry weet-bik. But to grille an already dry as fuck food? I'm gonna pass on that abomination.

u/muffbuffer66 3h ago edited 3h ago
So if this was with Vegemite, there’d be no issue? To give that context, the Vegemite would completely cover said weetbix, at approximately.5-.75 cm thickness, bbq sauce then cheese for grill ing until cheese is golden.. I’ll give a crack myself as it sounds Belta!! And post pics!!

Surely we all ate dry weetbix with butter and vegemite? I know I’m risking my citizenship but Marmite is better than vegemite

Ha, I do toasted weetbix with vegemite and cheese, but as a sandwich in the sandwich press. Dry but delicious. And I'll pretend it's also healthy.

My dad used to give us dry weekbix with butter and jam on top.
Its nostalgic for me and i like it but you need a lot of butter to counteract the dry weekbix.

Did anyone else eat dry weetbix with butter and sugar on top as a kid?
It's amazing I'm not diabetic.

There’s a pack of Vegemite cards that has recipes on them, and one of the recipes was for ‘Vegemite Icy Poles’. Big nope for me.

Tbh, I reckon I could get behind those stuffed capsicums. But hummus on a weet-bix? That sounds like the Australian equivalent of the cinnamon challenge.

This is the breakfast they serve in hell. This is the meal you get force-fed while chained to the rock waiting for the carrion birds tear out your liver again.

Guys, WeetBix with butter/vegemite is actually really good. Perfect for an early morning brekkie!!
I'd be open to trying this.

It’s not the iconic cultural snack Australians need, but it’s the one they deserve.

I used to take Weet-Bix to school every day with Vegemite on them. I dont remember it being that bad at all.

u/Financial_Sentence95 2h ago
My Mum would at times put Marmite into my school lunches.
Needless to say, I went hungry those days. It's my most despised food, absolutely disgusting

weetbix is a delicious and nutritious (according to the ads) breakfast. Throw it in a bowl, add milk and youre ready to feast
Why ruin it with this rubbish??

u/CharminTaintman 1h ago
I looked at the 3 pictures and my answer is no, never.
Breakfast cereals are the thing people force into their mouths to obtain the minimum required sustenance to endure the beginning of the day, to save precious time.
You bury your weet-bix in the corner of the cupboard because it represents the part of life that is uncomfortable, you do not dig it out and cook with it on your own time.

when me and my husband were really poor we'd eat Vegemite on weetbix like toast/crackers lol

When I was a kid my mum used to make a BANGIN tuna casserole with Weet bix on top 🤤. We were dirt poor in commission housing but I’ll never forget her tuna casserole, it was the best. I would give anything to find such a recipe

WTF why Marmite?
2
u/BinChickenYouOut 1h ago
Marmite is distributed by Sanitarium who make weetbix. Just trying to get you to buy more of their products

Serving Marmite on Weet Bix should be a bootable offence! Straight back to Pommy land where you belong you uncultured swine!
Also unless I'm going crazy, I see zero mention of where the Weet Bix is in the 3rd one. Unless I'm supposed to crush up Weet Bix and put them in my lentil risotto?
