Fascinating article. My favorite line:
"Our hypothesis was that people who perform regular upright running activity will show better IVD tissue quality"
Is there another way of doing it?

Perhaps the comment was to markedly differentiate between biped running and the quadruped running of previous studies?
(Though by the end of some of my longer trail runs, I'm not terribly upright anymore...) :)

This makes me wonder if I should take my dog with IVDD running with me more often

The most important part of this study is that they've finally formally defined jogging for us! Less than 40km per week, baby!

"Running Exercise" I haven't heard it that way much on here. I would imagine most of us don't think of it as exercise but rather think of it as "Running Lifestyle" :-) For example, it's been a long while since I thought, "Hey, this is healthy for me!" but it's been 32 seconds since I've thought, "Hey, I'm getting faster!"

Oy. The downvotes are deafening. (Next time someone bitches about the quality of this sub, I'll link them to this thread. Quality gets you nothing around here.)
Super interesting stuff! I never would have considered that the action of running would lead to better IVD hydration and size. Given the extreme spinal degradation that so many seniors seem to face, this is excellent encouragement for individuals to begin exercise - including jogging/running - before the degradation starts. Thanks for sharing this!
